Church Stress- LONG

Church Stress- LONG

FI and I found a church in our neighborhood and started attending after we were engaged. We talked tot he priest about being marreid and he said no problem. We went to two meetings with him kind of like pre cana and he did not want to talk about wed details but rather our 'relationship.' They told us that they don't really do weddings very often so they are kind of winging it. The parish is full of old people. After the holdiays the priest went to Hawaii for 3 weeks. I have ben calling him like crazy and he willnot call me back. I leave a message with his secretary almost every day. We are getting marreid in July and I still do not know, what time, when our RD is, how much they charge, what readings or songs we can use or anything. I am getting very nervous and frustrated.

Sorry for the added stress!! Is there another priest at the church?? A receptionist that might be able to be a little more understanding??

No one will listen to me. They are very laid back and keep telling me that I have plenty of time and should be worried about my marriage not my wedding!

Maybe try a different place?

Next time they tell you to worry about your marriage and not your wedding, tell THEM that there won't be a marriage if they can't cooperate!!

i had a lot of stress contacting my priest as well because he was the monsignor and very busy. i didnt know my rehearsal date untill 3 weeks prior too. but my heart was set on that church and looking at the pics it was all worth it. if you really love the church i would stick it out but i would try and reason with the person that answers the phone and im sure they will see your point and help. you can also try and ask for another priest just so that he can answer some of your questions.

I just posted a few days ago with the SAME problems Im having with my church. The priest it seemed was on vacation forever. After calling relentlessly every day, my FI finally got him on the phone. We have an appointment, but if things dont run smoothly, I have all ready spoken to another church that was much more accomodating. I would look into another church and explain the situation to them. would you mind sharing which church you are having problems with? Sounds like the same church I go to!!!
