Church time... photo's?
Should I try to change my church... We have a full mass at 3pm and the CH starts at 6. Will we have time to take all the ppictures? I'm worried that our guests will have too much time in between. The church may be able to switch to 1:00 but they do not offer a 2:00 mass. Should I make the switch to 1?ANy advice?
Church- Kings Park- 3pm

Re: Church time... photo's?
I had a tough time with this also. My wedding is Nov 4 this year. I was concerned about having enough daylight time for outside pics between the ceremony and CH (sunset is at 4:45). I decided on a 1 pm mass and 6 pm CH. It's a long break for people but either way, they will need to kill time. There is plenty for them to do on LI and they can always go back to the hotel and freshen up, etc. You could considering planning something for people to do in between or make up a newsletter with sight seeing ideas. Re: Church time... photo's?
I think you'll have time...We're doing our ceremony (not a mass, so it's only about half an hour) at 3:00 in Queens, and the CH starts at 6:00 in Mineola.
We're doing a lot of our pictures at the church right after the ceremony, and then going to a location closer to the reception to finish the rest of the pics.
Here's my timeline:
3:30 to 4:00 Ceremony
4:00 to 4:20 Receiving Line
4:20-5:00 - Pics in Church
5:00-5:20 - Travel to other location
5:20 to 6:00 - More pics
6:00-6:10 - Travel to reception.
We figured we'd get to the CH a little late.
My sister alotted even less time for pictures and we were at the CH within plenty of time.
The important thing is to be very organized about it and make sure you have people in charge of rounding the groups up for the pictures. I did this at my sister's wedding and was basically having the people for the next picture assemble while one picture was being taken. It worked out really well!

Re: Church time... photo's?
I would keep it the way it is... 4 hours is way too long to have guests wait until the cocktail hour. you should have plenty of time... my turn around time is even worse... 11 AM Mass, 1:00 PM cocktail hour... i am freaking otu!

Re: Church time... photo's?
My best friend just recently got married and had the church at 2:30 and the cocktail hour at 6. Even being in the wedding party it was way to long of a time. We finished with the outdoor pictures and even had time to do even more family pictures.

Re: Church time... photo's?
I have the same time ceremony that you do but we're only doing the ceremony not the whole mass. I think you'll be fine with time. Are you doing your pictures really out of the way?

Re: Church time... photo's?
The thing is FH has a HUGE fam so receiving line would need to be cut out. We plan on just taking pics at the church and @ RH. Jericho Terrace now has a Wine & Cheese room for guests that arrive early. I dont know what to doooo. Ahhhh. lol

Re: Church time... photo's?
I say keep it as is!We have the same church - I'm just 6 days after you

We have the same about of time also. Our Fri night ceremony is at 5pm in Kings Park, CH starts at 8pm in Woodbury.
We're not stopping at a park or anything for pics in between - we're just using the photo studio at Fox Hollow. Our photog told us that if we want family shots (I'm very close w/ my Grandparents/Aunts/Uncles/1st cousins), the family should be at the hall around 7.
I think you'll be fine

Re: Church time... photo's?
I am getting married the same date you are only in 2006!
My ceremony in Queens starts at 2pm and the reception starts at 7 (in Long Island). We want to go to Old Westbury Gardens for pics in between. Since it is in November the sun sets really early around 5 I think, so that is why I had to push the ceremony time up. I was worried about the big gap, but everyone has told me not to worry about it...not many folks go to the ceremony.

Re: Church time... photo's?
i went to a wedding this past weekend and we had like 30-45 minutes to get to the cocktail hour from the church and it was horrible,. i think the more time you have for your guests the better. personally.

Re: Church time... photo's?
we had a 3 pm ceremony and a 7 pm CH - we had plenty of time for pictures and some time to relax and have our own private CH at the Milleridge before the guests began arriving - it was a really nice breather for us, and i've been to plenty of weddings with long breaks - your guests will deal with it and i've never had problems. i think it's actually pretty typical on LI to have a long break in between - lots of people change in between or find other ways to entertain themselves.Welcome New Vendors
