so i am catholic and want to get married in a church and originally wanted to get married in my home church. i love it and have a priest that i love and it's really beautiful and scencic. .. i tried to book WAY in advance but my date was taken (a sunday so they only book one wedding that day)... so i was upset, and tried to get married somewhere else.. problem is, no one would marry me because i'm not in their parish. i called back my parish and the MEAN (head) priest was like 'fine.. i'll put you in at 3PM for a ceremony only (no mass)' .... my concern is that the other bride's wedding is at 4PM that same day. i know a ceremony is only 30 mins but still!!!! i asked him, well, begged him to do it at 230 but he was very rude mean and forceful and told me NO! i don't know what to do.. nowhere else will marry me and i'm really uncomfortable with this situation??
Thoughts? PLEASE HELP
Does anyone know any cute churches in my area that might marry me (floral park, ny) i've already tried: st joes garden city st annes garden city notre dame nhp our lady of snows queens st gregs queens st hedwigs floral park holy spirit nhp
thanks girls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had the same problem. I live in Westchester but am getting married in LI and a lot of the churches were rude and wouldn't do it. But I found a wonderful church that was so nice and very understanding. The church is St. Christophers in Baldwin (Merrick Road). They were very nice and I think may be able to help you. Try giving them a call. FM me if you want more info. HTH

try st. brigids in westbury. my friend is getting married there and she isnt in the parish. the priest specifically told her they cant turn people away -- it's their job to give sacraments.

One of my friends had the same issue a couple of years ago. She ended up getting married at St. Patrick Church in Glen Cove.
Is there one close by that you can start attending, register and become a member of? Then you would be a member of the parish.
I am way out east so I have no suggestions for you, sorry.

First, I find it so awful that none of these churchs will marry you, do they not understand you tried your local parish and it is booked? WOW!
I agree a 3pm wedding is TOO close to a 4pm wedding. My church is St Lukes in Whitestone (not too far from Floral Park) it is gorgeous BTW I would call, ask for Father Vincent and explain you dilemma . GOOD LUCK

I am getting married in St Robert Bellermine in Bayside. Its not my parish but it is FH church. You can try there. You can also try Immaculate Conception Center On Dougleston Parkway. Its the old Cathedral College which now houses the Brooklyn Diocese and I know they have chapel.
I would definately call your diocese and put complaint in though

i'm not catholic so i didn't have this problem as i wasn't getting married in the catholic church... but i was going to also reccomend st. brigid's my brother & sil and her entire family has been part of the church for years.. the priests there are VERY kind and the church is stunning. i hope that everything works out for u!

If he won't accommodate you by just a half hour then go ahead and take that time. Then don't worry if the next bride is late. Let her fight it out with the priest. If you still don't like the time then try some of the churches some of the girls on here have suggested. Good luck. I'll pray for you to get what you want.

Re: Church Trouble PLEASE HELP I NEED IT!
I got married in St. Patrick's Cathedral and all the weddings there are one after the other, 2pm 3pm 4pm etc. There was a wedding going on at 2pm my wedding was to start at 3pm. I never saw the other bride come out and she never saw me. We had a mass ceremony. I do not think you should worry much about the time frame. Speak to the priest that you like, he might suggest to you how it might work. How about your FH's parish?
Sorry to hear that they will not work with you. These type of things disappointment me.

You can try St Thomas the Apostle in West Hempstead. That is where I plan to have mine. They have a beautiful church on Westminster Road near National Wholesale Liquidators. And they also have a chapel on Hempstead Ave, right off exit 17N on the Southern State Pkwy.
