Church ummm problem I guess you could say

Met with the church last night. They only had one 'restriction'. No pictures during the ceremony. Is anyone else going through this? When the pastor said it...I almost wanted to cry. We can take pictures walking in and walking out and then go back in afterwards and re-create some things. I'm so torn on what to do now!

what church is that?? My photographer said he's able to sneak around that if they don't use a flash and stay further back.

no pictures at all - not even your photographer? my church doesn't allow photographers/videographers up front - they have to stand at the back of the church to do their thing. apparently it's not SO uncommon bc they both have appropriate equipment to do that. but not at all? that's rough...

I have never heard of this. How can you not have pics of your ceremony that is what the day is all about. Sorry, but I would find another church or get married at the RH

It's a Lutheran church and supposedly they don't allow photography for any ceremony (i.e. baptism, first communion, confirmation). We're allowed a videographer but only if he stays in the balcony.

i'm shocked they'd allow one but not the other! can you ask if your photog can please stay in the balcony also (if you really want to get married there)?

My mom tends to think that it's a Lutheran church rule cause when she got married (different church) they weren't allowed pictures either.

I'm reluctant to look for another church cause that's been my church since I was little. But I guess I'm going to have to start to look around cause thinking about this just makes me want to cry.

I am lutheran and although I am now getting married in a Catholic church I was previously booked in a Lutheran one. Pictures, video, nothing was an issue. My nephew was also recently baptized in a lutheran church too and it was like the paparazzi were there.

I'll have to go back and talk to him again. The vicar (basically a pastor in training) is new to our church and has been told by the congregation there's no cameras. A couple of friends have told me that for Catholic churches, some of them do not allow pictures for baptisms and communions but they do for weddings....cause come on...it's a WEDDING!

Maybe they'll allow photogs in the balcony if they're allowing the video guy. I'll have to find out about flash too. I hope he was just mistaken :)

i have heard of people saying the photographer couldn't go past the last pew of people. i also heard of some churches saying no flash photography. but no pictures at all, i think you should go back to discuss this

ita..my church won't allow the photographers to go past a certain point but in general they are allowed in the church.

I'll give him a call and see if he can get some clarification on this 'no pictures' issue. Thanks for all your help and advice! I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Maybe they mean that they dont want friends/family running around taking pics. I would try to clarify it before you change churchs
