So i called my church last monday (8/16) to find out if my date is available, and hopefully book. The lady on the phone said she will have someone call me back. A week went by and I called again this past Monday. I got the same lady on the phone, and she said she will give him another message. Here it is almost Friday, and I still haven't heard. Should I be calling again? Did it take anyone else two weeks or more to get in touch with their church? ughhh I don't know what to do!

Re: church vent...
I feel like churches often have some kind of issue! For us, we drove all the way there to pick up papers to fill out to request the date(which they could not tell me if was available over the phone by the way), filled them out, dropped them off and never got a call. After a week and a half I was wondering what happened? I called to follow up and they said they never received anything!!! UGH!!!
If I were you, I would call again just to make sure.

ITA!
We're changing our ceremony time from 4pm to 5pm and it's like a whole big whoopla now because the priest i booekd with is on vacation until september 1. apparently, the priest who puts the info in the book is the 'owner' of that date and no other priest can change it without his permission. so basically ive been waiting for 3 weeks for this priest to come home from vacay so i can change teh ceremony, all teh while praying (no pun intended) that someone doesn't book that time iwth another priest in the meantime.
ugh. god forgive me, but there has to be a better way lol

Re: church vent...
alot of the churches set something up with the preists first and then set the date...sadly i had to lie and make up an excuse because i wanted a certain date...

Those receptionist never know anything. They are like volunteer people and I don't think they even get paid to do what they do.
Personally I were you, I would go after a mass and go straight to the priest and ask him yourself. That's the way me and my mom have been getting answers to questions we have.
It took FOREVER for the the priest to initially call me back to hold my date!

I agree, that's what I would do.

Our chuch was very upfront with us ... They felt as if the church should be booked first BEFORE the venue. And in many ways I agree. We were fortunate that it all worked out, but they wouldnt even give us the availability over the phone. We had to go in and meet with someone!

Re: church vent...
churches get pissed when you book the hall first... make an apt to go in because they are going to do the initial interview before they book your date anyway... that has been my experience with 2 different churches
