So last week I found out my church completely changed their schedule and didn't even let me know. My ceremony starts at 3pm, and now so does confession, so there will be people coming in during for that. And mass is now at 4pm instead of 5 so we have to rush. The church said someone was supposed to contact us 2 months ago to change our time but just have over looked us. My invites are going out this weekend and there is nothing I can do. They said if I keep my time at 3, I cant have my florist decorate the church, I have to deal with people coming in during the ceremony for confession, I cant have an aisle runner or receiving line and they may have to cut things out of my mass. Im so stressed out, I feel like it is their fault for not contacting me about the change, so they should work with me. I even offered to pay extra if they could push mass back a half hour, and they said absolutely not. I don't know what to do, I have been crying for an hour since I got off the phone with them trying to work something out. I cant even go back into the church after to take pics. FH said we are doing what we want anyway, and now im scared that the day of, he's going to have a fight with a priest!! Im so upset... Am I over reacting??

No you are not over reacting, they are under reacting. I agree with FH. People who come in for confession. will respect the fact that there is a wedding going on, and I would def go back in and take pics, this was their fault not yours. I would call someone higher up. And keep going till you get a better answer. did you get a contract with your church, anything signed with the date and time? I would make huff, but don't stress. It will work out!

our church told us we cant have an aisle runner or we cant through ANYTHING after the ceremony (rice, rose petals, etc). But you know what? we did it ANYWAY! Our limo driver just rolled out an aisle runner and I made petal cones and had everyone toss them at us. What are they gonna do? Come out and yell at you? Trust me, the priest wont say or do anything, so just do it anyway!

Im sorry that is happening to you! You are def. NOT overreacting. Since it was the church's mistake, they should be willing to work with you guys. Its kind of silly that they won't let you decorate the church. I hope everything works out for you guys, but I would def. try to talk to them some more to see if maybe they could just cancel confession for that day.

Thanks girls... I think im going to write a letter to the Arch diocese... Im just a big marshmallow and am scared to do this stuff anyway, but I guess you're right, what are they gonna do??

Why don't you ask the church to help out a little ...since it was their fault ....by holding confessions in a different part of the building. They cannot expect you to change anything since the time is so close. Your invites are printed and all your vendors (limo, flowers etc.) are booked.
