I'm kind of upset, our 'old school' monsignor said it 'gets in the way' of the real mass and soon people will have all kinds of requests, that they have to draw the line somewhere.
I was really looking forward to this

Who wrote it?
And, dont worry, your ceremony will be beautiful nonetheless
I found it on another post on here I believe.
It is really beautiful Cindy I think you should have at the reception before the toasts. It is definitely worth incorporating it even if it can't be where you originally want it to be.

Re: Church won't allow Hand Ceremony
All these 'extras' take away from the Sacrament. I am sorry you are upset but it really doesn't have anything to do with a Nuptial Mass, everything that ceremony represents will already be represented with your vows, the Nuptial blessing and the exchanging of the rings. Just like the unity candle, it is a secular tradition, it doesn't belong as a part of the Mass.
Doing it at the rehearsal dinner sounds like a great idea-Good Luck!
