Me and FH are meeting with the church tonight! I'm so worried they won't marry us because I haven't received my confirmation and communion! Has anyone had the same dilemma??

Re: church worries
Don't worry about that. You have plenty of time. If they have a problem with it you can receive communion and confirmation before you get married. I didn't do it when I was a kid like everyone else did, I didn't get them til HS and I had to be baptised too! I know they have adult classes for people looking to earn these 2 sacraments all the time!!! Most for this very reason!

Re: church worries
It depends on how strict the church is BUT I am sure they would give you the opportunity to recieve those sacrements

This happend to me! I was only baptized catholic! They just asked me if i thought I was catholic and I said yes so there was no problem. I do not think that you can have a mass though!

Re: church worries
My friend hadn't recieved confirmation, and she had to go to classes and do this before she could get married in the church.

Re: church worries
As the girls said alreadyI think you have to receive communion and confirmaiton before you can receibe the sacrament of matrimony. I know that we have to show proof that we received those sacraments in order of us to get married in the church...then again, each church tends to do things their own way so you'll never know!

Re: church worries
In some churches, as long as one person has all of their sacraments, I believe it is okay to get married in a church... (some churches). My cousin is catholic and she married a jewish guy. Both the preist & the rabbi were in the church. I'd do my homework and start looking around. Not all churches are that conservative.

Re: church worries
I was told by our priest that they will marry you in a church as long as one of you has completed all sacraments and you agree to raise your children catholic.

Re: church worries
when my best friend was planning her wedding her FI at the time (they r married 3 years now) hadn't made his confirmation. he had to make it before they were married. so u may have to go to classes.

Re: church worries
Same thing here. FI is not confirmed and our priest told us this should not be a problem because they only look to see if you were baptised. He did try to encourage him though to receive confirmation before or even after our wedding.....I think it really depends on the church.

Re: church worries
My FInever made any of his sacraments except being baptized and my church said it was ok. If he wants to make them he can they have classes that are once a week but that is up to him they will marry us if he doesn't make them
