FMIL just informed me after she went to a wedding last week that the church we'll be getting married at is NOT air conditioned and they said they don't turn the fans on b/c the noise is so loud?!
I told FH we have to really think about this.
Can you guys list your church and if yours has AC or not.
Also for a July wedding, do you think its really necessary for an hour?
Thanks so much.

Re: Church....AC or Not?
I think it is necessary! No one wants to get hot and sweaty after they spent hours getting ready.

Re: Church....AC or Not?
I got married in St. Anne's in Brentwood and they have A/C but I think they may open the windows if it is a nice day.

I have no idea if my church was A/Ced or not!
It was warm that day and we were all cool, if that helps. But I don't knw about AC.

Re: Church....AC or Not?
i just went to st. aidan's in williston park last week and noticed it was air-conditioned (felt good with the high temps.) i think it's important for the guests, esp. the elderly who may not tolerate the heat too well.

Re: Church....AC or Not?
We switched churches b/c our original one didn't have AC and I didn't want to take a chance with it being a sweat box.

Re: Church....AC or Not?
Our church does not have AC but we weren't worried about it since we got married in February
Yes I think having AC for a 1 hour ceremony is important!!!! My cousin got married a few years ago in late July and it was SOOOOOOO hot and the church's AC was broken. People were DYING sweating like pigs and makeup running off. No one was concentrating on the ceremony b/c they were so uncomfortable from the heat

Re: Church....AC or Not?
We're not getting married in a church, but I know the parish that I used to belong to where my mom goes has AC.
I couldn't imagine going to a July wedding and having to sit for an hour sweating like that. Not even the guests so much, but you in a long dress and your FH in a tux, I would just imagine you'd be so uncomfortable.

I went to a wedding in August a few years ago (in Pittsburgh) and the ceremony was in an old Cathedral - full mass with no A/C! everyone was DYING! it was 85 or 90 degrees and very humid. no one was listening to anything because they were so damn hot!
That's why FH and I decided to have a Fall wedding.

Re: Church....AC or Not?
I know that St. Pat;'s in BayShore doesn't have AC. A friend got married there last July on an extreamly hot day and it was pretty miserable. Luckily it was a short ceremony and not a long mass. We are getting married there but in May. Hopefully it won't be as hot then.

Re: Church....AC or Not?
So are you thinking of going to another church now? that's tough. I was in a wedding last July and the AC broke! It did get a little bit uncomfortable because it got very warm.

Re: Church....AC or Not?
My Church definately has central AC. my dad is an AC contractor and our church happens to be one of his accounts!!!! So there is NO WAY we will not have AC the day of my wedding! I told him he has to start testing the AC out for next year around Christmas time!!!!!

Re: Church....AC or Not?
I'm not getting married in a church. But, a couple of years ago I went to a wedding at a church in August, and I remember it being pretty bad. I wore a shorter length dress, and it stuck to the back of my legs because the air was so sticky. If you are not attached to the church sentimentally, I would see if you can find another church with AC. You want your guests to be comfortable so that they can focus their attention on the ceremony.
