When I went to my florist appointment, I told them my budget. In order to keep within my budget, we ruled out ceremony flowers. Will I regret this? is there anyone out there not doing ceremony flowers to decorate the church?
Of course we'll have pew bows...but how else can I go about decorating? My florist mentioned buying a huge plant or something...I dunno. Are flowers for the church really that necessary?
Thanks!!

I dont think they are necessary...but they are nice to have if they fit your budget. I am getting married at my reception hall...and Im not going to have real flowers to decorate the place..I will be using silk flowers to save money. The only real flowers that will be in my wedding are my girls bo-k my bouquet and the boutineer(sp)

Can you use silk flowers for the church decorations? That will save a bunch of money!!!! No body will even know they aren't real...............just an idea.
Another idea would be what your florist mentioned.....plants. Or even some fake trees and put white christmas lights in them .............
hmmmmm, if I think of anything else, I'll let you know

I think silk would be a great idea, I am thinking about doing pew bows with a calla in the middle. ANd maybe asking my mom to do something silk for the arch that I could maybe hang in the house someday. But all silk to save money.

I am NOT having ceremony flowers . . . my church has fresh flowers on the alter and those will have to be enough. If I had more money, I would probably still not use it on ceremony flowers.

I am NOT having church flower.....my church always has two flower baskets on the alter and since I am getting married in Nov, it will be decorated with mums and such. I would not worry about. Truthfully unless you are going to take the flowers with you to the RH, the flowers at the church are a waste for $$.

My FMIL is a warden at our church, so she said she's going to make sure the church is nicely decorated. We're not paying for it, so I'm sure it'll be fine! Even if we didn't have flowers, I think most churches are very pretty on their own, and it'll make you stand out even more!

I am only using pew bows at my church. I think it is beautiful enough as is and I just didn't see the need to pay for more flowers for that half hour.

also, yuo may want to talk to couples that you're doing pre-cana with--i think you said you're getting married at St. Rose---- my priest suggested that we talk to the other couples getting married that same weekend and perhaps you can split the flower cost for the church with them.... and they would stay for both ceremonies. we ended up getting them, but since there were 3 other weddings that weekend we took them with us and used them to decorate the reception hall since i did not do centerpieces.

I am getting married at my RH and I didn't want flowers at all but my Mom who is helping pay for the flowers really wanted flowers for the arch so I agreed to have those thats it. I don't really see the need for them.

No, I don't think you will miss them. My cousin didn't have ceremony flowers & no one even noticed b/c the Church itself was beautiful. The Church decor will be enough. It's nothing to feel badly about.

This is a great idea if you can do it.

I think you will be fine. I'm getting married at RH and I'm not doing any flowers...I didn't find the sense on spending extra money for a 20 minute ceremony but that's just me!!!

I wouldn't worry about it. Like someone else said, you will be the focus of everyone's attention anyway. If you're really worried about it, maybe your florist could do something for the church that could also be used in your reception area?

Same here...I am having bows for the pews...I really would rather spend my flower budget elsewhere...

Our church actually doesn't allow it so it's ok by me. I'm allowed our bouquets and some church tool, but no other flowers, esp petals on the floor. No biggie! I think it'll be beautiful without them Tara!! No worries
