Churches
Good Morning Brides-to-be :)The fiancé and I are starting to look at churches.. He is catholic and I am Lutheran, we are not very religious but that was the one request his mother had, for us to get married in a church. (can be Lutheran or catholic)
We are looking for a beautiful church that is not overly strict.. We have contacted a few churches and they do not like we live together and want us to go to a three month pre-cana classes)
I saw St. Patrick's Parish online and thought it was gorgeous. Does anyone used them? or know there procedure to getting married there?
Thanks gals :)

St. Patrick's in Glen Cove? Do NOT tell them that you live together!!!!! I am getting married at St. Rocco's and they use the same priest over at St. Patrick's..they are very strict being that they are old school Roman Catholic, so be careful with what you say :)

If you have any other questions let me know. It's the same exact process and paperwork as my church so I have everything from them.

what else are they going to require?and what type of pre-cana do they require? weekends? how many sessions?
are you both catholic? I am Lutheran.. I heard some churches require you to get married at the bottom of the steps if both are not catholic?
the more information the better, because I know nothing about this process.
thanks doll :)

We are both catholic and my fiancé's church is also combined with the other two so it works out. For pre cana we have to sign up through the diocese of rockville center..all the info is ok their website.

We did our pre-Cana through the diocese of Rockville Center. We signed up online and were able to pick which month we wanted to do our pre-Cana. They offer it once a month it's a Saturday and Sunday 9–4. We did ours at St. John's high school. We could've also done it through our parish but they only offered it once in the spring and once in the fall and the dates didn't work for us.You'll also need to hand in a copy of all your sacraments within 3 months of your wedding date.
Your church should give you a check list of all the things that you need to turn in before the marriage can take place.

we are getting married at St Ignatius in Hicksville (right down the block from your venue) and I am so happy with them. They gave us no issues with living together and the couples that led the precana were awesome. It was 4 nights for 2 hours a night. And a mass in the beginning and end. We really enjoyed the program and made friendships...in fact we are having dinner with one of the precana couples this weekend!

We are getting married at St.Aidans in Williston Park. We live together but the priest didn't ask us so it never came up. He also said we could do precana online.

Seriously!?! We had to do our FOCCUS online but I wish I could've done the pre-Cana online too! I sat through 14 hrs of natural family planning and stories about the 'family that prays together stays together'
