City workers who left for LI jobs?

Good morning everyone!
Long story short, I've been at my job for over four years now and lately managment has just goten so sloppy that I don't even feel like it matters if I'm here or not. When I bring it up with my boss I get brushed off and I just feel like no one gives a crap that I'm here anymore..... I'm just getting more upset about it with every passing day, and I'd really like to leave and work on the island, but I'm not having any luck finding positions!

SOOOOO, here's my question - have any of you left a job you've had in the city to work back on LI? Honestly, I've been looking for the last two years, but I can't seem to find anything out here! I'm looking online, but I feel like there HAS to be an easier way to find LI jobs. Just curious as to how everyone else dealt with this.... Thanks!!!

The company that my DH works for is hiring. They are located in Hauppauge and are looking for Inside Sales Executives. The position is entry/mid level.


I was lucky that pretty soon after I moved in with DH out here, I transferred to the branch in LI that I originally worked in before my five years in NYC.

It is pretty hard ... DH quit his NYC job because the commuting just was not the quality of life he wanted but it took quite some time for him to find a good job on the island.

thanks for that feedback - sometimes I think I'm just going about this the wrong way bc it's taking so long to find a good job closer to home! The commuting is the other half of why I want to leave too!!!

Thanks for letting me know about that position too. I'm hoping to get into something Publishing related and try to keep close to my current salary now - so that's probably why I'm having a hard time too!

I'd love a LI job too but unfortunately, they seem to pay so much less than NYC!

Besides online, I know there are recruiters on LI in certain industries who specialize in LI jobs that aren't advertised online. I've had a few call me in the past regarding jobs on LI which I didn't pursue, but for kicks went online or to the company's website to check out and they weren't listed! Some companies (like mine) won't advertise online or in the paper because they get too many unqualified resumes and they want them weeded out.

yeah, the pay cut on LI is a total bummer - I got a call back last month for a full-time proofreader position, which is my IDEAL JOB....but the pay was less than HALF of my current salary! And I can't swing that kind of a pay cut with a mortgage to pay DOH! I'll keep looking though, it's just comforting to know it's not just me!! :)

The plan is for me to work in LI after the wedding - I don't know what I am looking forward to more the wedding or working in L.I. again.

When I worked in LI I couldnt wait to work in NY and now I work here and I want to go back to LI.
