FH has always been fascinated with getting married at the NYC City Hall. We had been talking about having a civil ceremony there a few months prior to the big event. Cut to Saturday night where I asked my aunt how my cousin would feel about being my 'Something Blue'. My cousin (who is my age) has autism and part of her routine is that Saturday is HER day, and she hasn't left her home on a Saturday in 6 years. Clearly, we can't force her to leave...it would be like forcing my vegetarian FH to eat a cheeseburger. So she will not be attending our wedding. Now it's pretty important to me to have the civil ceremony, that way it's on a week day and she will be able to attend.
Is this silly? It's really important to me that she's part of our day. Any advice is welcome.
We did that! We got married on May 13th by a clerk of the court and are calling our wedding an 'Affirmation of our vows'
and our invites say 'You are cordially invited to celebrate the marriage of' and we did it on a Friday morning outside of the courthouse - it was such an amazing day :)
So obviously, my thoughts are GO FOR IT!
