Re: Claddaugh

You do whatever you both want to do. Nobody says you have to get a diamond. You can have a different stone.

Re: Claddaugh

My engagment ring is an emerald w/ a small diamond on each side. Not traditional but exactly what I wanted. I am one for not caring what other people think!!
As for the Claddaugh idea I love it! I actually wear my Mothers engagement ring on my right ring finger w/ my claddaugh. (both rings on the same finger & it looks nice)

Re: Claddaugh

LOL i have an update. Still no decisions made, but today we went to a few places for ideas. I saw some Claddagh's that I liked, but I think i prefer it as a wedding band. I did not see any emerald rings I like (probably cause I prefer white gold and they are infrequently set in white gold) but I DID see some Saphires that were just gorgeous. For the first time a ring 'felt right' on my hand. Even when we looked at some diamonds it didnt feel quite right.

Anyway, we'll see, but thanks for all the advice, it has been really helpful!!!

Re: Claddaugh

Ok, its now a few weeks later... and guess what.. we finally picked out a ring!!!

It is an oval saphire with a round diamond on each side. I LOVE it, it is TOTALLY the best ring I could have picked.

BUT... I am still waiting for him to give it to me. I know he picked it up today. He said he has a few things he needs to do before he can put the ring on my finger (as he snickers). He could be just torturing me and trying to surprise me, but maybe he wants to talk to my parents and stuff. Not sure. Anyway, now I am really really excited!!!

I have been planning anyway, but it will be nice to make it official!!!!

P.S. We think we are going to use Claddagh for wedding bands

Re: Claddaugh

We just made reservations at Captain Bills for dinner. We are considering them for our reception and wanted to go taste the food. MAYBE tonight he will propose? what do you think? It might be TOO obvioius, so maybe he won't. UG! I am dying!
