Class reunion

Class reunion

My 10 year high school reunion is today. I've been waiting for this day for so long-- I loved high school. So I went out and bought a (too) fancy dress, got my nails done, have a hair appointment, etc. and I just found out that only 40 people are expected to show up! And that INCLUDES dates! I am soooo bummed. So I am actually going to reunite with about 19 former classmates, and none of my close friends are going. Has anyone else gone to their reunion/s? What have they been like?

I went to Sachem as well, but opted not to go to my reunion. (I don't speak with anyone from my HS anymore and wasn't about to spend $98 a head.) My FH and I decided to go to a club (Cyberia) instead. Turns out, a bunch of the folks from the reunion came to the club afterwards since the reunion was at the Hunt. Hilton.

It's a shame what happened to the so-called 'popular' people. They were all banged up! I must admit...I was looking pretty darn hot that night too! Sweet revenge.

Re: Class reunion

I was a little nervous about going to my reunion. I was excited to see old friends, but for some reason I had butterflies in my stomach!

A friend convinced me to go and I'm so glad I did. It was an absolute blast!!

You should go! Who cares if there are only a few people??

Jenny5150-LOL-I agree. It's funny how time and life are great equalizers. One of the most popular (and somewhat biotchy) girls in my class must have really took the wrong road after HS. She looked horrible, got obnoxiously, over-the-top drunk with her boyfriend...and sadly, was still a biotch after all these years! Talk about smug satisfaction

Re: Class reunion

I would have gone to my reunion, but Patrick's cousin's wedding was the same day.
I am not in touch with any of my HS friends, and I thought it would be fun to see what everyone was up to.
I actually paid to attend, hoping we could skip out of the wedding a little early, but we had such a good time, we stayed, and missed the reunion. Oh wel... I guess there's always the 20 year...

Re: Class reunion

I went to my ten year highschool reunion (my 10 year college is next year - wow!) and had a blast!!!! I was dreading going because my hs was huge and very clique-sih and I didn't love it while I was there (but didn't hate it either). Well my MOH really wanted to go so I went with her.

It was fun because hardly anyone even recognized me and those that did were people I knew mostly from after hs. (I had fun playing with this.) Mine had hundreds of people (but I also graduated with over 600 people) and no one really brought dates and very casual (in hs lunchroom!). It was more of a booze fest and we all went out after to a local bar and partied 'til about 4am. So much fun.

The best was the guy who had his locker next to me all 4 years of hs who I had classes with and was on a friendly basis (who is 100% gay now -I always thought it too!) - came up to my MOH and other friend to say hello and then looks at me and says I am sorry I don't remember you. I tell him who I am in a funny way and he freaks. He has to take pictures with me and is finding all people from our home room and freaking them out too. It was so funny. I guess I am no longer that too thin, no figure, quiet, big-haired girl.

I went to mine 2 years ago. I was very nervous at first. I had lost 40 pounds so people were shocked and my confidence level was so high. I had a blast though and can't wait for the next.

Re: Class reunion

I went to mine last year...and it sounds verysimilar to what you are describing...

I think about 50 graduates showed up...but a lot of people that I wanted to see...but I thought $95 was too much...and I know that if we didn't have it at the WOodbury CC...somewhere more casual...more people would have showed up...

since it was so expensive...I drank my share and got really drunk...

I hear many are like this...and while I didn't want to miss this reunion...I definitely will not go to any others

Re: Class reunion

Well, I went! There really were only about 40 people there, but I had fun anyway. I still felt 'different'-- everyone looked so good and polished and... (sigh) pretty. Meanwhile, I got my hair done twice (hated it the first time so went to a second place), wore a gown, and still felt ugly. Ah, well. Anyone want to give me a makeover?
