I love classical music, but I do not know what to walk down the aisle to... I do not want to do the wedding march, b/c I actually do not like the song:
I am having a string trio & was thinking of: Bach - Air on G string Tchaikovsky's Theme to Romet & Juliet Bach - Sheep may safely graze
For the recessional we are thinking: Trumpet Voluntary Beethoven's 9th (Ode to Joy) (or my personal favourite) Everlong by the foo fighter's - acoustic version - no words.
HONEST OPINION PLEASE

Re: Classical Music help
IMO, trumpet voluntary would be more for the processional. I'm partial to Canon by Pachabel for the processional and I like Ode to Joy for the recessional. Let me think a little and I may have some better suggestions. Let me take a look at my music that I have for weddings.

Re: Classical Music help
Here's what we had: (we loved how the music flowed in the ceremony - it fit perfectly!)
Prelude Water Music Suite No. 1 in F-Air - Handel Larghetto – Handel Meditation from Thais – Massenet Vivaldi, Winter, Largo – The Four Seasons Orchestral Suite No. 3 in D- Air – Bach
Processional Groom’s parents & Bridal Party – Canon in D – Pachelbel
Bride/Mother of Bride –– Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring - Bach
Ceremony Unity Candle: Ave Maria – Schubert
Recessional Arrival of the Queen of Sheba - Handel

Re: Classical Music help
I like Pachabel's cannon, but a guy that is in my wedding party, for some reason that I do not even want to know of, it makes him crack up laughing..... kind of like Bolero in the movie '10' I think!!!

I hated the title (so conceided sounding!) but it's a beautiful piece.

Re: Classical Music help
I don't know how well you know classical music, so I don't know if this will help, but I like Menuet and Dance of the Blessed Spirits by Gluck for the processional. You could totally do the Foo Fighters song for the recessional, I'm all for that as well. I just love Baroque music in general for the processional, so a lot of stuff from that time period would work.

Re: Classical Music help
LMAO Teri.... I know what you mean...
rachel, I do not know that menuet, I like Bizet's menuet though. I shall have to dust off my classical tapes & see if I have Gluck.
And I also do like Jesu, joy of man's desiring.

Re: Classical Music help
HearzBellz, Teri had a lot of music from the time period I was talking about, so that's along the lines. I don't know if you know Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring, but that's a great song! I love it!

Re: Classical Music help
I just spoke with my trio yesterday & they are anticipating about 30 minutes worth of music & I wasn't planning on that much, I live Vivaldi's four season's - especially Winter & spring, but inthruth I am more of a Mussorsky(sp?) fan. And Wagner.
-not at all appropriate for a wedding ceremony IMO

Re: Classical Music help
the musicians should also be able to give you a good list of what they can play.
My sister's a professional musician so she helped me with the music - I was clueless in the beginning!

Re: Classical Music help
I actually studied calssical music in HS (liek 15 years ago) but I like stuff that is really not wedding appropriate - I like some Beethoven, but I don't want all Beethoven.
The musicians gave me a list of 150 songs... thsi is why I wanted opinions.... I cannot even begin to try and hear all 150 songs & decide

Re: Classical Music help
Well, between Teri's sister, and your music class 15 yrs ago and me (a professional musician), I'm sure we can come up with SOMETHING!

Re: Classical Music help
BTW- I REALLY recommend using something from the Four Seasons by Vivaldi. GREAT mood music!
Like, I see you are getting married in January, so maybe use some music from Winter and include the story and description that Vivaldi wrote for his musicians and put it in the program. I also like Moonlight Sonata for the processional and will probably use that for the BP.

I love that song. Have you heard Josh Grobans version..hes an opera singer..its amazing.

Re: Classical Music help
Yep, I walked in with my mom to Jesu, partly because I've always loved that piece, and partly because I also love Canon, but wanted to do something a little different.
Our isle was actually pretty long too, so each piece was played long enough too (if it's short a piece that takes a while to get going may not work)
