I put the teapot on, place my ring on the end of a fork, and swirl that bad boy around in the steam.

Haha. It actually works pretty well!

LOL I am totally going to try this.... its a home made steam machine just like the jewelry store LOL

I just use jewelry cleaner.

A friend of mine used to go into the mall jewelry stores and pretend to be looking for wedding bands and she's casually sy 'oh do you think you can steam clean my ring for me?' and they'd do it and she'd leave...

that's great! I think I will have to do this!

Haha, definitely do! I figure it's probably safer than chemicals.

I actually used to steam clean my rings with the espresso machine at the restaurant I used to work at. (Don't worry. It was completely sanitary. My rings never touched anything customers used. Haha).

That REALLY got my jewelry to sparkle. I wish i had an espresso machine at my house so I could still do that!

all the girls at both restaurants i worked at do it ... on a slow night there was a line for it lol

Did your FH buy your ring locally? Most places offer free cleaning if you bought the ring at their place. Other jewelry stores might be willing to do it free of charge with the hopes that you will come back to buy future jewelry there.

For Christmas my mom bought me the Sharper Image jewelry steamer. So I use that for cleanings in between professional ones.

Just wondering how everyone cleans their engagement rings...and if you take it somewhere can ou recommend some place in nassua county (near valley stream; or out by roosevelt fields?) TIA

Edited to add: a friend told me to boil water; and add some detergent & windex and drop the ring and all the dirty and stuff on it floats around and it's nice & shiney...i've tried it; but hope i'm not damaging anything by soaking it in the soapy water...

I go to Cambridge Jewelers in Roosevelt Field and they clean my ring, but my ring appraiser also sells a small jewelery cleaning machine for about $20.00, He swears by it and I am going to go buy it from him just to have at home. If you would like his info just FM me. HTH

I always go back to wear FH bought it and they clean it for free. If the place that he bought it is not close to you I would try calling them and asking what they suggest you use.

I use hot water and dish soap for 10 minutes then spray some windex on it. A girl at work cleans her ring like that and I was amazed at how clean and shiny it got.
