I have a very silly question. How do you clean your rings? I have a platinum ring and I have heard I can clean it using ammonia and water. Is this true if so how much water and ammonia. Thanks for your help.

Re: Cleaning Engagment Ring
There was a thread about this not too long ago...you should try to search it. Someone had said part water, part amonia, and part dish washing liquid, heat it in the microwave for 40 seconds. I just throw everything in, it works pretty well!
Edited to say:
I don't microwave my ring!

Re: Cleaning Engagment Ring
AT HOME: 1 part amonia, 2 parts HOT water. Let soak for 10 minutes, gently use a soft toothbrush to remove any dirt from spaces in ring, be careful not to scrb the platinum and rinse WELL. Wipe diamonds with a little windex for a great shine.
The best is to bring it into a jeweler and have them steam clean it (in front of you of course!)

Re: Cleaning Engagment Ring
I use: 1 part amonia, 1 part dish soap and 3 parts water. I was told hot water - but I made the mixture and keep it in a jar...it works just as well, imo.
ETA: and a soft brush (I use a jeweler's brush) to lightly brush off any grime. I use it for the under part of the stone - the part that sits close to my lotioned finger.

Re: Cleaning Engagment Ring
i dont use amonia its abrasive. i use 1 coffee cup of water in micro for about 3 minutes do not boil water. and i add a tablespoon and a half of dish soap. after it comes out of microwave i put the ring in there for about 3 minutes and with a toothbrush depending on how dirty the ring is scrub it but usually just dipping works it looks as good as when they clean it at the jewlers.

Re: Cleaning Engagment Ring
I bring it to the jewlery store and they usually clean it for free. I think that way is safer.

Re: Cleaning Engagment Ring
Wisk Stain Disolver Detergent w/ water makes my ring look like I just got it professionally cleaned. I read it in a magazine.
