Cleaning our new apartment

Cleaning our new apartment

Danielle and I started cleaning the bathroom and the kitchen of our new apartment last nighgt. I could not believe how nasty it was. We thought the people that used to live there were so clean, boy were we wrong. We cleaned inside all of the cabinets and we found sauce stains and dirt stains, it was so gross. We still have to clean the grout in the floor. It used to be white and now it is dark grey....yuk.

My project was the stove and cook top. I spent 2 hours cleaning the grease out of the inside of the cook top, & under the cook top hood.

Danielle's mom took all the grease catchers and put them in the dishwasher...She couldnt believe how nasty it was. We are going to pull the stove out of where it is and clean the grease off the walls next to the stove....Nasty!!!

Then we will be able to paint the walls behind the stove, and also the refrigerator which we are throwing out. The shelves in the frig are all broken and stuff and Danielles parents are buying us a new one, thank god.

Danielle worked on the bathroom. The tub/shower was nasty. She scrubbed all the mold off the walls, and was using the bleach pen on the grout. She noticed that the people that lived there corked the tub right over the mold on the side of the tub...>So now we gotta pull off the old cork and the black mold that is on the tub and the wall and re cork it.

I can't wait to see what else we find in there....

I dont mind cleaning though....Its sort of fun....Tomorrow I am going to finish cleaning the stove, and then we are going to get the paint and start painting the kitchen and the bathroom. The rest of the apartment needs work before we can start painting it.

Hope you guys are done soon! I don't know how people can leave apartments like that. I swear when we moved out of our apartment I was scrubing everything, DH was like W T F are you doing. I was like I can't have people think we were slobs.

That is so true. I plan on doing that when I move...Even though my apartment is pretty clean already.

It is amazing how some people's mentality about renting. Just because you don't own it doesn't mean you don't have to clean it. I could never understand that, it is still your home whether you rent/own. Everytime I move into an apartment, I have to break out the bleach and gloves even if it looks clean.

Why are you doing the painting and caulking.... this should be a landlord's task, no?

Re: Cleaning our new apartment

The Landlord is Danielle's dad. We are ripping the caulking out and he is going to grout it to make it look better. He is going to be replacing our refrigerator and fixing everything that needs to be fixed. He will also be patching all the holes in the walls.

We wanted to paint the apartment different colors other than white...so that is what we are doing. We are also getting new carpet for the living room and bedroom. Danielle's brother in law owns a carpet business so we will get a good deal.

Nope....

Last night I put a second coat on the bathroom, and now we just have to do the trim in white....
