LOL yea Erin told me about this... I saw my ring yellowing underneath, and was like 'where the hell did FH get this?!?!' I didn't say anything bc I didn't want him to feel embarrassed! my bad!
I take my ring to the jeweler for a steam clean and diamond check. They gave me a solution to use at home that has a brush to clean all the crevices. I do it like once every 2 months

Re: Cleaning your e-ring
toothbrush and hot water! All chemicals wear the ring down over time.

B/c my ring is white gold and if u know what happens to it ...i had to get it dipped but the best is that were the FH got the ring i can bring it to them and they clean it and check the diamond and they just dipped it again ..and now it looks NEW!!! so now im careful and i dont wear it around the house and to the gym or work
My ring is white gold also... What do u mean 'u know what happens...'? Do u have to clean it differently?
White gold after a while tarnishes...sucks but thats what happens my ring was looking gold after a while and u have to get it dipped they said every 6 months ...so what ive been doing now i dont wear it as much so it dont have to do it every 6 months ...its a pain
Wow I didnt know that. That really does suck.
Yeah it does ..thats why i only wear it when i go out now

Re: Cleaning your e-ring
Mine white gold and I have never had a problem with it. I only take it off when I take or shower or doing dishes because I am afraid of it going down the drain. I where it to sleep and I wore it in the pool all summer and it hasn't been a problem. I will def. keep an eye out now though.

I am obsessed with cleaning my ring.
Get a microwave safe mug, and put a drop of dish soap in it, fill the cup halfway with water and then microwave for a min or so.
Then put your ring in the cup (with a fork so it doesn't bang)
Leave it in for about a minute and then take it out and rinse with cold water. Like new!
Im trying this when I get home... thanks! Does it matter what dish soap u use?
Nope! Works like a charm!
I tried it and it worked really well. My ring has been shining like new.. yay! Lol.. Thank u!

Hey ladies I work part time at a jewelry store(so needless to say I clean my ring every time I work lol) White gold doesn't tarnish, white gold is yellow gold mixed with alloys, with wear and tear the alloys go away and the gold begins to return to its natural state aka yellow. There are so many pros and cons to gold and platinum, gold keeps its luster and plat stays white. Working in jewelry I always knew luster was more important to me than the color, maybe because I knew I could have it dipped whenever necessary but still. Honestly the more you clean it with harsh cleaners like windex, toothpaste, etc you will end up wearing away the alloys much faster. Dish soap with very hot water or going to your jeweler is really the best way to clean it. HTH

Thanks so much for the info. I never knew any of this! Even before knowing this, I didn't want to use many chemicals to clean my ring so I tried the hot water and dish soap another bride suggested and my ring has been sparkling like new!

crashing...
Who said you had to have it dipped every 6 months? My e-ring is platinum but my mom gave me a white gold ring for my high school graduation and I've been wearing it almost every day since, and it looks fine.

Re: Cleaning your e-ring
Ive only had my white gold ring for about 4 months and I am already seeing a yellow tinge on the underside of the ring. I also obsessively check it and nobody else notices it.
