Hello Ladies,

Please share your special techniques on how you clean your engagement rings without bring them to the jewlers.....

My jeweler said to soak the ring in rubbing alcohol for an hour -- it doesnt hurt the gold/metal at all and wont leave any residue

Me too- it comes out really shiny.

I've heard that boiling and steaming is really good, too.

My uncle is a diamond dealer in NYC and he told me to never use a brush on ur diamond because it will losen the stone!!

I've seen several jeweler's and jewelry websites that say it's fine especially a soft toothbrush. I've been doing it for over a year and my stone is fine.

I use this too. Love it so simple and the ring really shines. Everytime I clean it I get compliments.

I was using my mom's home steamer....but she just bought me one of my own for my birthday! Now I can clean it whenever I want! Love Mom!

The diamond setter that made my ring told me to use dishsoap (dawn) in boiling water. Drop your ring in and in a few minutes you have a sparkling ring!

Get cleaner from teh jewlery. He said that windex or ammonia is good for the diamond but eats away at the gold.

This is similar to what I do- I use the Ivory dish soap (supposedly the most gentle soap) and drop it in with boiling water...comes out beautiful! I may have to try the Windex now too!

soak in windex, give it a shake and rinse it off with hot water...voila...sparkling!

My brother-in-law is a jeweler and he always says that no matter what you can always clean your engagement ring or any diamonds with good old fashioned Windex...most jewelers don't tell you that b/c they want you to bring your ring in and have it cleaned professionally (and spend money)...I've been using it on mine and my sister's rings (she married the jeweler) and the windex works everytime!!

I saw a post about 1/2 hot water and 1/2 windex. I soak my ring in that once a week for 20 mins and then use a baby toothbrush to brush it, then rinse. AHHH THE SPARKLE
