Re: Clear Channel drops the Howard Stern show

.

Soory, I misunderstood you

I think that children are exposed to things everyday that are far more damaging than Howard Stern or a boob. The cartoons and videogames are so bloody and violent. MTV is very sexually graphic. How many times did MTV run that Madonna, Brittany, Christina kiss? I just don't undertand how the FCC can take aim at a radio show for adults when there are so many other possible targets that are geared towards children. South Park is so obscene and it is marketed to children.

Why Howard Stern?

I completely agree that there are things aimed towards children that are worse. But I guess it has to start somewhere...

This is a silly question, but who, at the show, has their finger on the 'bleep' button...... and if that is the issue, why wasn't that particular person punished????

Dead Air Dave, but that si not one the words he is required to bleep out. It never has been bleeped.

Also if anyone was listening to Howard this week, a number of radio stations ahve their own bleep guy that further blleps things that they don't want to broadcast on syndication.

I thought the final straw was talking about Paris Hiltons sex tape with the guy in the video...apparantly he was describing the act...which is a no-no???

They have done that before, too. Not with the guy, but I have heard them describing the contents of the video before. And I think they did the same thing with the Pamela Anderson/ Tommy Lee video.

This is what I heard too

I guess it was a combination

Stern said one thing he doesn't like is that the suspension makes it sound like he did something wrong. He said a caller used a racial slur and he hung up on the caller. Clear Channel said Stern's show doesn't meet the company's newly revised programming standards.

Exactly. You do not have the right to use an obscenity on the LIWeddings message board - if you do you will be kicked off.

Well, that's not true, is it Michelle I very recently saw a poster called a curse word that was not censored and no one was kicked off.

Re: Clear Channel drops the Howard Stern show

I don’t know if this is going off the subject or not, but am I the only one who thinks there needs to be a distinction between HS and 'the boob'? IMO, anyone listening to HS is prepared to hear outrageous ADULT content. Families watch the Super Bowl. No one was expecting to see a booby, nor should they have.

Re: Clear Channel drops the Howard Stern show

OMG I just woke up (I know I know its 12) and I sign on to aol and I see Howard got pulled. Did anyone hear the show on monday? When he was talking about this. This is BS Im sorry. Howard has been on forever. Parents should monitor their kids. But at the same time the parents better not have cable tv. All their kids have to do is be up and put on HBO and see real sex. Comeon. It doesnt even have to be late to see nudity violence and hear curse words.

the word that was said on the air was not right it was disgusting but Howard didn't say it and he hung up on the guy that said it.

All I meant was that we should all care about the morals of our children, whether it is you and me, or the government. Do we not have any responsibility to society?

If the 'Bleeper' guy was doing his job, it never would have been an issue.

I'm sorry Shelzyp, I don't think it's the word that's even the issue for CC. It was the entire passage that they felt was indecent. Words are just words until you put them into a context, right?

you know...I am mad at CC for taking him off...but I guess if they want to run their company with the set of morals that they chose - they can do so...

I just hope that another station picks him up in my area...

Re: Clear Channel drops the Howard Stern show

I used to work for HS (he's a great guy), and I love the show, grew up listening to it and I went on to become a somewhat successful attorney and law abiding citizen!! So there...

In my opinion, we are so freakin' repressed in this country that the gov't feels we can't be exposed to anything!! It makes me sick!!!

Bush and his right wing cronies need to be stopped immediately. The First Amendment obviously means nothing to these people.

Don't even get me started on Bush's proposed amendment - the first amendment to the Constitution that would restrict rights and discriminate.
