I am getting married in Aug 2002 at Crest Hollow. Does anyone know of any clergy to use?

We are both catholic. A catholic priest, minister, etc...really doesn't matter.

I am aware that the marraige will not be recognized by the Catholic church. We do not care about that. But there are retaired priets that do weddings. I am not really picky with who marries us. As long as I am comfortable with that person.

Kathi - Nicole...
I have the same exact question as you (and have had it for a few months now). I'm getting married at the reception hall and am looking for a methodist minister and am having trouble finding one! Good Luck to you, please keep in touch and let me know if you find a catholic priest (i'm catholic, my FI is methodist)

Hi everyone. Hope this helps. My Fi and I are getting married at The Community Church of East Williston. The Reverend Kent E. Huyck. (516) 742-9690 He is wonderful. Both my fi and I were looking for a church and ceremony we are both past cathlolic's but are not marrying in the cathlolic church). This minister is wonderful, not only did he opened his church but also his heart to both of us. I would highly recommend you call him directly and speak to him about the possibilities. A true man of God. We are both delighted with this minister and the people of the community we have met through him. The church itself is beautiful, 75 year old stone chapel. This day is one of the hightlights of your life, call Rev. Huyck. He has been the best part of our planning. Good Luck to you all.

Please let me know who you find!
Hi Kathi, I am having a priest co-officiate with a rabbi. My FI is Catholic and his priest is Monsignor Beckman. He is at the Holy Name of Jesus Church in Woodbury. Sorry I don't have his number. I am not sure if he does weddings for non-members although I must say, my FI does not really go there very often. He did tell me that he will only allow weddings outside of the church if the Catholic person is marrying a Jewish one and no other religion. If you want, I can try and get his number.

Misha (kinda long!) :)
His number is 516-921-2334 but I am pretty sure he can't do Sunday mornings because he leads the sunday services at his church. Our wedding is on a Sunday but at 3:30pm. He may be able to refer you to someone else though. I believe he is part of the Rockville Center Diocese for Interfaith Marriages. Something like that. My FI did get dispensation and we both attended pre-cana last fall but not an interfaith one. I don't think our rabbi and priest have worked together before but they both wanted each other's numbers so they could meet. Hope he can be of some help! Good luck.

Kathi - question re interfaith pre-cana etc
Hi Kathi, I am currently looking for a priest & rabbi to perform my ceremony. I anticipated that one of my questions to prospective officiants would be any pre-cana requirements. Can you tell me your experience in getting signed up for this. Also, how did you obtain the dispensation? (as I didn't grow up in the area, I am not an active member of a particular parish and don't know really who to ask). Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Kathi - thanks for the ino (L)
Hi Kathi - thanks! your message was very informative. I actually spoke with a representative tonight of a Priest and Rabbi who co-officiate. She told me that the priest would file the necessary paperwork (I'm guessing in Rockville Centre Diocese- I'm getting married Aug 25th in the Roslyn Claremont). I am going to set up a meeting to see if I like this particular priest and rabbi (feels very strange to be 'shopping' for something of this nature!). I'll have to ask, but I recall her telling me that Pre-Cana was not necessary (actually the idea appeals to me, so I'll be sure to enquire). She also told me about needing my baptismal certificate - finding it will be a challenge! Thanks again for your help....

Kathi - I posted 2 msgs - don't know what happened
The first was just saying thanks for the info (and the reassuring msg on the Claremont!!) - the 2nd was looking for my first msg. So I'm just trying this again.... I did meet with the Rabbi today, but he told me that the priest he works with will not perform ceremonies with anybody else, so this doesn't help you at all. I'll look back in my notes to get you some other names I came across....Welcome New Vendors
