I'm so confused on which one to pick for the RH in May '08 I really love both...my fam members love Carlye *they're older mostly and my FH's fam would be blown away by CLM. By the way FH loves CLM....only thing is that I had my HS senior prom there sooo....i don't know? Help!!!

Re: CLM or Carlye?
I'm biased, but I say CLM. Nick is amazing to work with, the food is awesome, the service is outstanding, and the yatch arrival will blow everyone away!

Re: CLM or Carlye?
The two places are completely different. I personally do not like the room (downstairs) at CLM, but I have never been to a wedding there, just went to check it out for myself. I'm not a big fan of oval tables either, althoug it would make for nice pictures. Carlyle is such a different caliber (bells and whistles) than CLM. I had a great experience there for my friend's wedding. If the price isn't too different, I would choose Carlyle over CLM. My friend's brother got married there and she said the yacht is really just a boat anyway...If you like CLM, did you check out Venetian Yacht Club? It's sort of a combination of the two. Hope this helps and of course this is just my opinion.

Well what appeals to you might not appeal to someone else so go with your instinct and your likes...Which room do you like better, which price do you prefer, where do you seem to get better service...Sit down with Fh and think of pros and cons of each place...Good luck

Re: CLM or Carlye?
the Carlyle..Im a little biased though ..just think it has more of a different feel..i love it how the cocktail hour has a more traditional homey feeling and when you go into the ballroom you are just blown away..thats just me though..good luck in your decision!
carlyle is stunning and one of my favorites....it was just out of my price range. you have to decide whether having to come up with that amount of money will stress you out. maybe its more important to you to go out on your hall, but cut corners in other ways (fewer guests, etc.,) or maybe $$ isn't an issue - in which case go for it!!
i saw CLM and ABSOLUTELY loved it. i don't think i've seen a bad review for them on these boards, so i honestly don't think you could go wrong with that one either. plus it IS right on the water. good luck!

Obviously I vote CLM! But, I don't know anything about the carlyle.

My friend's brother got married there and she said the yacht is really just a boat anyway...
What do you mean by that? The boat they use is gorgeous... esp. now since they got a new one.

Maybe it was before they got a new one...But she said 'yacht' was a stretch. Again, this is hear say, please don't take it personal.

Re: CLM or Carlye?
personally...i love CLM, the moment we looked at it we loved it so much b/c of the really high ceilings and the windows...plus how could u beat coming in on the yacht. but, i didnt look at Carlyle, simply b/c it was out of my price range. from what i know, it has a totally different feel than CLM, so u have to decide which is more your style. Also, i suggest going to tastings at both of these places before booking. to me, food is a big deal. u are paying all that money it would be a shame if the food was no good! also, i would compare what they are offerring with what u are willing to spend. as far as i know CLM is a lot les expensive, so u may be able to splurge more on other things if u go there. anyway, good luck with your decision! either way, it will be a beautiful reception!

Re: CLM or Carlye?
I loved the carlyle but couldn't afford it. I'm not a huge fan of CLM-- but it was nice for TWOTY. I think I'm jaded because I grew up down the road and I was there a few times before Nick took over...and it was never any good in the past. So many brides rave about it though... ETA: The place is so much nicer and classier than it used to be-- I'm not putting down its current status-- I'm talking about how it was when I was in elementary and jr high. (80s-early 90s)
I checked out carlyle and the price was high but the ballroom is gorgeous.
There's really no comparing the 2 because they are so different..
It depends on: -your budget- you get alot more for alot less $$ at CLM -your taste- Carlyle is more old world, woodsy, home-y feeling, CLM is more chandeliers and marble ritzy (that sounds like a negative term...but that's not how I mean it...just can't think of a better way to describe it). -What you want to look at during cocktail hour- Water or golf course. -How much you care about the type of food- the menu at the Carlyle has some really unique stuff- but it may not appeal to everyone. Although, I'm sure you can get whatever you want to please yourselves and your guests.
If you really can't decide and none of these things are an issue- do what I do- flip a coin

Hands down Carlyle.....went to CLM twice and was not impressed....the only nice thing about CLM is that is right on the water (nice view) but otherwise nothing special...

Re: CLM or Carlye?
It's soo true. I know they are two totally different places AND price diff is probably the biggest factor. I would save alot w/CLM and def could use the $ for other things...! But I was just curious b/c I though since i had my prom there I might just be biased.

Huge difference in price! CLM is much more affordable.
