Re: CLM review...

Ok ladies, here it goes...hope I don't get yelled at
Ok so first issue I had was that the invitation stated start time was at 4:30, we go there on time, however, we got held up in the parking lot for ten minutes waiting for the valet guy. We walked in and straight ahead saw the bridal party lined up by the doors. Someone at the front door asked what party we were here for and when we told him he said to go stand by the fireplace (which was where the bridal party was standing)…we get to them and they tell us they’re about to walk in for us to hurry outside. I thought they wouldn’t be starting until at least 5pm…give people some time to get there, but instead they started promptly at 4:30pm which annoyed me a little since the invitation didn't say so. We go outside and there’s no seats so we walk to the back to be told by some lady that we cannot stand there because that’s the way they’re going to be coming in. The space outside was literally so tight that we had no where else to go, thankfully my sister in law spotted three seats (separated) up front so we hurried over to them, literally like 30 seconds before the bridal party came in. I felt so awkward and the people who worked there didn’t help us to find a solution of where we should sit….they just said we had to move.
Soooo finally we sit and the ceremony starts…the microphone was a little low so I couldn’t hear everything but that wasn’t the worst of it. There was a day party going on in the room on the first floor and half way through the reception their music got insanely loud…I heard the Puff Daddy song clearer than the reverend at one point. The music didn’t get lowered either, it only went off when that party ended.
After the ceremony it was time for the bride and groom to take a boat ride out and get some pictures in while we went off to cocktail hour. This for me was the worst part of the whole night. The wedding was maybe 150 people tops but yet to get into the cocktail room took 10-15 minutes. There was a line from where the ceremony took place, all the way into the cocktail room. This was because of the place cards and I think could’ve been avoided had they put the place cards somewhere else rather than at the already too small entrance to the cocktail room. The food was good, but I didn’t really enjoy it since I spent most of my meal standing and eating because there were no where near enough seats to accommodate us all. There was a few tables outside and thank god the weather held up because all of us would not have been very comfortable crammed in that room. There were a few tables outside so we were able to find a seat a half hour into it.
Finally they announced the other room was ready and there was a line again to get inside. The room was set up beautifully though the tables were a little close together on the right side ( where the huge windows are ) In the back by the bar there was plenty of room, why they squished us all to the right beats the heII out of me. I happened to sit at the head of the table and was bothered every time I was in my seat by other guests and waiters to move in because they couldn’t pass. The food the rest of the night was good, we even got asked for seconds which was nice. Another thing I wasn’t a fan of was the position of the sweetheart table…I wish I would’ve gotten a picture of it. I feel the sweetheart table should stick out from the rest, and have a view of the whole room…instead they were stuffed in the back by the window with two tables somewhat blocking the view…I had to search the room for it when I first walked in.
Another thing that could have been avoided was the venetian hour….don’t get me wrong, the set up and quality of desserts was amazing, but they had it back in the cocktail room which left the reception room pretty empty for a while.
One other thing that no one but me seemed to mind ;) … one of the DJ guys was walking through cocktail hour (outside) bringing in equipment in dress pants and a ginny tee…I was two seconds away from telling him to go put a shirt on and honestly expected someone who works at CLM to say something, but this went on for 30 minutes and no one said a thing.

The rest of the wedding was great, and I didn’t write this review to make people upset, but most of these “issues” can be avoided if mentioned to the BM’s before the wedding.

Hope this helps someone!

Re: CLM review...

im not trying to be mean but If the invitation stated that ceremony starts at 430, well then it starts at 430! I wouldnt think that any other way.
As far as the music, thats bad and the staff should have done something right away to change that.
Your a wedding of 150 people, there will be lines to move in and out of doorways and rooms. What we usually do when we know this is just hang by the bar or go for a quick walk around the grounds to bide our time instead of standing in a line. Thats something that just cant be changed no matter what wedding you go to.
and almost every hall puts the vienese hour in a separate area because it usually entails extensive dishes and takes up a lot of room. they arent going to put it in the ballroom cause there is ususaly no room, and you dont wantt o look at people setting up tables in the middle of the party

The invitation said 4:30, that means it starts at 4:30. My wedding started promptly at 3:00pm at church. Some people were late and walked in after me. I didn't notice or care, but just saying when a wedding says 4:30, get there 10 minutes before if you want a good seat. :)

I hear ya about the CH room. The setup is too small. We had 200 people and couldnt have indoor/outdoor because of the rain and it was HOT and too tight. This was my only complaint about getting married here, and everyone kept saying how good the food was so they didnt seem to mind (or were just being nice to me hehe)

Some people didn't know where we were seated either. The placement didn't matter to me because we only sat for the toast and for like one minute to eat. We were up and standing all night.

Glad you enjoyed the food.

Personally, I'm not putting the exact time the ceremony is starting on the invitation. If someone is on time you don't want them to miss the bridal party walking in.

HHAHAHAHAHHHA
I am pretty sure I was at this wedding too!!!!!!!!! and I have to completly agree with the review.

I am geting married at another RH, and it is ALWAYS told at any hall i visited that you put it invitation a half hour before, the actual ceremony. THe line on the valet is due to CLM not hiring enough people to control the flow of the multiple events that were happening. There should be one valet for every 25 people, and this was not the case.

I agree, the placement of the table cards did hold up the line, which caused delays. I was unimpressed by how unorganized the whole party seemed to run and how it was set up. The tables were so cramped, I had to disturb everyone around me if we had to get up to get drinks. I was also disappointed because, the waiters and waitresses did not once offer to get us a drink.

chateau le mer, disapointed.

We probably were at the same wedding
And that's true too about the waiters not coming around to take drink orders...I gotta say, I was at Russo's for a Communion recently and the service was spectacular. The owner evenwent around from table to table to make sure everyone is ok....and that waiter was bringing me two drinks at a time without me even asking for them.
It might've been an off day for CLM b/c I always heard nothing but good things about that place.

Re: CLM review...

The invite time is not the problem of CLM. It said 430 then you have to assume it starts at 430. The couple can on their own put an earlier time but that part is in no way the fault of CLM.

I agree with the valet....they werent the greatest at my wedding byt it was really such a minor wait it didnt bother me and I did not hear one complaint from any guest.

I had 150 people and the cocktail room was fine with me.

the sweatheart table placement....again on the couple. I was told I could have mine anywhere I wanted to put it. So my guess it the couple said it was good where they put it.

Re: CLM review...

This is why I didn't want to post my review...

Pls don't take it the wrong way, my post was in no way meant to bash the place...I just thought it might help someone. The place was beautiful and food was great and I still had an awesome time

Edited to add
And it was the first wedding I've ever attended that had the ceremony on site so I was off with the timing and I wasn't blaming CLM for this...I did blame them for the valet making me late(r) and the staff not being helpful to tell me where to go or where to sit/stand. I just got a 'I don't care where you go but you can't stand here' kind of thing that annoyed me.
