After charting my cycle for six weeks and finding that I am not ovulating (PCOS strikes again) I called my Dr. and he is thinking of starting me on Clomid.
Has anyone used this?

Me.. I am pregnant on the first try with clomid and an IUI. Safe drug as long as its not used for a long period of time. There are tons of articles about it on the internet Good luck

I'm not sure I will yet, but I also don't ovulate and am seeing my doctor the first week in July. I'll know more about it then if I have to take that course.

J - I too have PCOS and though I'm not ttc yet I'm curious to see how you do with it.
I go off the pill and i'm fine for like 5/6 months and then I stop Darn PCOS.

Jeanene, have you tried Metformin?? It worked wonders with me, and had only very mild side effects.

I knew I could count on the LIW Women for information. I am going to be talking with my dr. later today, and I just wanted a bit more information before I talk with him.
JennRenee - I have not heard of Metformin, but I am going to research it now and ask my doctor this afternoon about it. Thanks!

I did round two of Clomid this cycle. But nothing -- so it's round three as soon as my friend shows up.
It worked for my mom when she tried to have me -- she got pregnant with me the first time. I haven't had such success yet.

In the book I read about TTC it says that one negative of Clomid is that is can dry up the 'fluid' that takes the sperm to the egg. You cannot use a KY type gel to do this, since that really just traps the sperm and doesn't allow it to move freely. But I also know many sucess stories (some twins!) on Clomid.

Jeanne, let me know if you want me to direct you to some info on Metformin.
It may also help to look under Glucophage, which is the brand name.
