My fiancé and I are closing on our home next week! Any tips or advice for closing? I feel so stressed lately, but it's so exciting! I can't wait to be able to paint and do stuff with the house!

Congrats on the huge check! FH and I have recently started looking at homes also, after seeing how much we'd be blowing on rent. Hopefully we'll get lucky, and I can post something similar to you in the coming months :)

That's awesome congrats! I found the whole closing process very stressful. My best advise is just make sure you are clear on exactly what amount of money you need to be bringing that day and also bring your checkbook....there are a few thing that you will need to write checks for the day of.
Good luck!!

The most stressful part was leading up to closing it was horrible for us the amount we needed to bring kept changing the date kept changing once you have all the kinks worked out its easy... Just get ready to sign a novel worth congrats it's an awesome feeling

Thank you!
Our lawyer told us that she will let us know everything that we need to have made out, so if we don't hear from her by Wednesday or Thursday I'm going to call up to see exactly what we need (because I know we need cashiers checks and not regular checks for some things).

Yes, definitely make sure you know exactly how much money you need the day of. Your lawyer should let you know a few days before. It's so stressful, there's SO MUCH talking and paper passing happening, it's confusing! The thing our lawyer told us before we went in was, if I give you something to sign, sign it. If you have questions about it, ask me afterwards.

Haha ours said the same! I just want it to be over with though. Is that terrible? I hear it's exhausting.
It really went full circle though, because we are closing about a year after we started looking.

Us too! We went into contract on our house in Feb 2012, we didn't close until August. It was such a roller coaster. I couldn't wait for it to be over. After closing, we drove straight here and just sat on the stoop for a while, taking it all in.

Omg I was so nervous and so stressed everyone kept telling me horror stories and how it takes forever and how many things could go wrong but our closing could not have been easier. We had a great lawyer and bank.
Good luck!
