So the good news is Fh and I are closing on our first house Monday. However it's been such a hassle with the stupid BANKS!! Girls who are buying a house...beware..b/c of the mortgage crisis banks are asking for everything short of a urine sample at this point.. and of course they wait until the last min to ask for it!! We were supposed to close Friday but alas...one of the loans still hasn't cleared to close yet!!! But the biggest problem is the seller wants to keep possession of the house for two days AFTER we close. (it's in the contract they are allowed 5 days) So... if we closed Friday we'd get in on Monday...BUT of course the bank being Jerks,, we aren't closing until Monday so we can't get in until Wed!!! Screws up moving plans and painting plans.. I know it's no big deal but when you are sooo anxious.. these extra days are just TORTURE!!!! Just needed to vent sorry so long!! Im definitely going to now focus on the good of the situation...WE HAVE A HOUSE!!! I need to cheer up and get out of this pissy mood!!! Oh PMSing isn't helping the situation either!!!! Thanks for listening....ok.. Breathe!!!!!

i know exactly how you feel. just to get to closing was the biggest hassle ever!! but you own a house!!!! once you are in and it's all painted.... it is the best feeling ever and you will be so happy!!! congrats!!!

First off, congrats!
We're in contract right now and I'm so scared it's going to take so long for the closing. (Not that it's a bad thing because it means we have more money in the bank before we start paying a mortgage!) Our lawyer told us he went into contract for a house in October and was supposed to close in December and they didn't end up closing til the end of February!
Good luck with the house. You waited this long, 2 more days wont be much.
I am supposed to close on Monday also and I just sent in my homeowners insurance policy to them but like you said now I have to WAIT until I hear from the stupid banks.

And that's when you turn around and sue their @ss. The 5 day thing is typical in contracts.

In every contract there is a possession agreement which states they have 5 days to get out.. you hold money in escrow and essentially have a second walk thru.. if anything is damages you take it out of the escrow acct. I know what you're saying though.. at first it freaks you our but you're totally covered.

So that's when you had to show stuff. We did that too. So far (and I'm crossing all fingers and toes) we won't have to start searching for all this other stuff!

So that's when you had to show stuff. We did that too. So far (and I'm crossing all fingers and toes) we won't have to start searching for all this other stuff!
see, thats what the underwriting department does...our guy pushed for that do be done right away that way we wouldnt have to deal with it as it got closer to the closing date. And he said we got away with not having to show anything. He said it's a random thing, some people get lucky. Thank god we did!!!! I'm sorry you have to be going through this though =(
