Clothes shopping

Clothes shopping

How frustrating must they make it for us?

I hate having to try on absolutely EVERYTHING that I might like because I'm never the same size ANYWHERE.

I just went out for a suit and dress. And obviously petite women need miniature sections of the Ann Taylor Loft because that makes total sense, right? We also don't need selection. So yeah, that was a bust.

And then Banana Republic, while they are having an awesome sale, finding a suit jacket just was not happening at the location by my office.

I agree. DH always asks my sizes before holidays and he asks for pant sizes and I always say 'Don't even bother'. I have pants in every size - it is ridiculous.

Some coordination amoung MY favorite brands would be nice, and can all pants come in different freakin lengths. Why do guys get to pick a waist size and a length and all we get is a freakin number? Ours should have waist, butt and length sizes - cause we have curves.

I hear that!! Went to Kohl's after Xmas with some $$ I'd gotten looking for jeans. So I find the style I want, the size I need, and then it just stops there. They had NOTHING labeled Short. Everything was 'regular' or 'tall', and I keep thinking 'If there's such a demand for Short that there's never any in stock why don't they beef up their inventory??' (Sorry, I work in Purchasing)

Anyway, I ended up going into the Petite section with my mom. I got mom jeans.

I have truly given up on jeans as far as finding a good length. I get nearly everything tailored because if I find something that actually looks good, I can't afford to pass it up just because the inseam is 34'.

I do that, too. I am too tall for a short but regular lengths seem to have gotten longer lately and they are never right either.

Oh, and I need a petite jacket but I cannot wear petite slacks. So, any 2pc pantsuit has to be sold as separates. There is no good way to alter a regular jacket into a petite. And yeah, I need a petite, but a big size in petites. I suck.

As much as I want to feel bad for you JB, at least you have options. As a 'plus sized' woman, I have minimal options. Lane Giant and muumuu's. It is just lovely. I can't wait to get back to my old size. (At least one of them)

SuperKat is a SuperHot SuperHow. I ignore all of this. I'd SuperDo her.

And, Kat, I had a dream where I had my own version of Movie Star Hair (TM). It was fabulous the moment I woke up. Imagine how sad I was when I woke up for real and had a birds' nest on my head.

I am so flattered.

Steph, if I ever make it to CA, I will show you my secrets to Movie Star Hair (TM). Once you know the secrets, you can only share them with super cool people.

I am SO WITH YOU on this. I am petite as well and finding anything that fits is such a pain in the asss it's barely worth it.

Yeah - and the size thing is really annoying because if you are normally a 10 then have to start trying on 12's and 14's it starts to hurt! Like physically HURT! I've been working out 5 days a week - SCREW YOU I AM NOT A 14!!!! I know it's just a number but you all know what I mean!

I have found NY&C to be the best in terms of pants and pant lengths. I don't like their jeans but whatever - I don't like jeans period. I have NEVER found a good pair. I have a few I force myself to wear but I hate them. I know I just have to suck it up and go to a boutique and get Luck Brand or 7's but I just don't have an extra $125 to do that right now - so the $12 pair from marshalls that irritates my waist line forcing me to wear an undershirt is going to have to do!!!!!

Cindy, hemming is your friend!!! I'm too short for regular length, but just a hair too tall for most short lengths. Granted, it works best for straight legged pants, but if you find a pair you like and they don't have them in short, buy the regular and hem them!!

I've done this. Or I should say I've bought jeans and then had my mom hem them, but that was when I was still living at home. Now that I'm 'out on my own' I feel kinda funny asking mommy to still hem my pants for me.

I would bring them to a tailor but 1) extra expense I'm trying to cut back on, 2) haven't found one in our new area, and 3) I'm just too plain lazy. I have not one but TWO pairs of dress pants that have been hanging in my closet for (I want to say) 3 years!!!!!

As for NY&Co. I bought a pair of dress pants there and they fit really well, I mean they looked GOOD in the dressing room mirror. I got them home and wore them the NEXT day and for some reason I've got no @ss. I don't know what happened!!!!!

Haha that is funny cause I am the same. I attempted to hem a pair of jeans once. It was a disaster - I over hemmed, now they are too short if I wear them with anything but the flattest of flats, but NO way would I get my lazy arse up to bring them to (and pay) an actual professional

I don't feel bad for any of y'all.

I am not tiny and cute like those who can still shop in petites.

I am not tall and gorgeous and Nordic looking like SuperKat (plus sized my butt).

I am built like a hobbit.

I got the short legs, the freddy flintstone feet and the thick trunk.

Doesn't matter if I DO find clothes that fit. They still look like crap.

Actually - if we are going by the movie version... Elijah Wood is hotter than me.. so I might actually be built more like a troll.

No asss you say? I have no knowledge of this phenomenon. Even as a skinny Kat, I always had asss.
