FH and I are on an extremely tight budget. I originally was going to invite all of the teachers in my school to the wedding. (I work in a small school with a staff of about 20 people, including the principal and the A.P) Now that we're narrowing down the guest list, I realize that it just doesn't seem feasible to invite everyone. Plus, there are some teachers that I don't see or speak to outside of faculty conferences and in the halls. I get along with everyone, but have only really developed working relationships with 5 teachers. Is it wrong to invite only those 5 people if everyone knows I'm getting married? How are you deciding who to invite from work?

Re: co-workers at the wedding
Not at all! I work with a large group that I have been kind of close with. I'm only inviting those that are in my immediate cluster. I'm sure they will understand you can't invite the entire faculty.

not wrong at all....it's a wedding! things get expensive, and ppl should understand that.
people will understand--and if they don't..you wouldn't want them there in the first place. sometimes cuts have to be made! do NOT feel bad about it!

Re: co-workers at the wedding
Okay to me if I'm not 100% close to all my co-workers (when I say close talk to them outside of the job) then I dont really feel obligated to invite them. If a few have invited me to functions before and they are really cool with me then thats who Im inviting. I dont feel like just b/c I work with you that you have to be present at something like my wedding. Sound harsh?

Re: co-workers at the wedding
I say only invite the 5, I am only inviting co-workers that I have hung out with outside or work. Many have them have become 'friends' instead of co-workers. I have been here for 9 years. So just friends that I have formed relationships with outside of work - that is what I am sticking to.

Not at all! I wish I could invite more people I work with but I can't. I'm narrowed to 6 people.

I think it is fine to only invite the ones you talk to. After all, weddings are very expensive.

I'm just inviting my bosses (I have three). . .It would be impossible to invite the entire office. We just can't financially. . they will understand.

Re: co-workers at the wedding
I am having the same problem. We have to invite out bosses right? I work for a Sr. Vice President (He is my main boss) and two Vice presidents do I really have to invite all three. I really don't want to.

Re: co-workers at the wedding
The few I am inviting are already married, Of course Id feel really bad inviting them and not their spouses. If they were single I'd ask them if they mind coming alone. If they are dating someone again I'd invite that person as well

Re: co-workers at the wedding
Sorry, but NO coworkers on either side. FH's family is wonderful, but large in number so we have to conserative on the invites (at least at first!).

Re: co-workers at the wedding
We are only inviting a couple from work too, or else our guestlist will shoot through the roof!
I do not think it is wrong at all. I work with a ton of people and am friendly with a bunch of them but I am only inviting those to the wedding who I have a relationship with outside of work.

I'm a teacher also and I'm just inviting the girls I eat lunch with (6 girls). They are all married or in serious relationships so i feel like i have to invite with a guest. It does add up when you are having coworkers on both sides though.

Re: co-workers at the wedding
When my brothers got married they couldnt choose which co-workers to invite AND they were on a budget as well... So they invited NONE! And sure enough, they ended up working for different companies years later and never heard from any of those old friends every again anyway!
I'm also on the fence about my co-workers, its really a rough decision to make...
