Cocktail and dinner music

What kind of music are u ladies using? My DJ said cocktail hour music should set the mood for the night and dinner music should keep the mood going but at a slower pace. Any suggestions?

Depends on what kinda mood you are looking to set.

We had a steel drum band play at CH and it was amazing!

If you are having a DJ, I would recommend some low key slower music like some Sinatra, Michael Buble, or if you are into it, maybe some jazz

we are having a piano player during the CH who has offered to stay and play for us during dinner (he's a family friend).

We have Steel Drums playing Cocktail Hour but I'm undecided about dinner music I was going to post on BHB asking what everyone else was doing. I was thinking Sinatra, Billy Joel, Bocelli type stuff

Big Band/Sinatra/Rat Pack stuff always works for dinner and cocktail hour.

Our CH music will most likely be the old Italian-American standards.

We hired a piano player for the CH to play Billy Joel, Sinatra, lighthearted catchy music. I don't really think that the music at the CH really sets the tone for the night... I think usually it's just background music, to be honest, all of the weddings that I have been to, I couldn't even tell you if there was music in the background and if so what kind of music it was. During dinner we're going to play some of our 'runner up' first dance songs.
