Cocktail Franks in a Pastry puff

Pigs in a blanket...is anyone having this at their CH?? I've seen it on a few menus; i'm not sure if this is wedding ch food though. I LOVE Pigs in a Blanket and can eat 100 of them at a party! But I want to make sure i don't raise any eyebrows. I can always just make some at home to get my fix! LOL!

Every time FH and I saw pigs in a blanket on a menu, we rolled our eyes.... this may or may not be popular opinion, but I feel like they're toaster oven New Year's Eve at home with beer food, not wedding food... they just aren't anything special. I like to eat them... but they're not anything special.

If we had chosen a venue with this on the menu, we would have asked for some kind of substitution. But this is just me, really. They actually seemed to be really popular with the venues we looked at.

They're definitely on our passed trays.....and honestly I think someone in FH's family would scream bloody murder if they weren't there.

As for eyebrow raising, if you want them, then have them and don't worry about what other think.

They offer them as part of our CH.. they give them some kind of fancy name. We get to choose a bunch of things we want from a list; I love pigs in a blanket but I'm not sure if we are going to select them.

I think it can go either way. To me it's not wedding food, but some people just LOVE them. I don't really think it will get raises eyebrows unless there aren't toehr more fancy options. I mean, no one raised an eyebrow if you serve Bud Light along side the grey goose, but if it's ONLY Bud Light, then there's an issue

Good point! I like the bud light/ grey goose analogy!

FH and I absolutely love pigs in a blanket ... i feel like they ARE wedding food and they are prob the hors douver we're most excited about.

my RH makes htem 'fancy' ... i think most do ... they are kind of hot dog sized 'pigs' (but sliced so they're about an inch wide) and wrapped in yummy dough.

OMG i'm drooling right now hahaha

i think you should DEF have them ... especially if you love them as much as you say

YUMMMMMMMM. I hope wherever I book lets me have them! My friend did her CH of all bar food, piggies in blankets, wings, egg rolls, sliders and fries. It was freaking AWESOME. I say go for it!

I am having them. My 6year old would be very unhappy with me if I didn't.

when we were going over the menu with our BM, my FH laughed when he saw pigs in a blanket on the menu and the BM said that they're actually really popular! Everyone loves them, I don't think people would roll their eyes if you had them, I think that they'd be excited bc most ppl do love them, go for it!

Notwedyet09, Did you decide on a venue yet? The Swan Club has the pigs in a blanket, I was questioning those also. lol. I think I am going to have them substitute them with Spanikopita.

My RH didn't have in on their menu, but the maitre'd used them as an example saying we could have things like pigs in a blanket, but he didn't recommend them. LOL. I've seen them at weddings before, and I was like really?? I tried them and they were terrible. If they were good that would be a different story. If you want them, have the RH make them and see, are they the quality you buy frozen at the grocery store or are they really up to the caliber of food you'd want at a wedding? Like are they made with super light flaky dough and have gourmet mustard served with them?
If they are super yummy no one will think it less classy.
Take a look around at what's trendy in the restaurant world these days, it's taking homey classics and bar like food and making the gourmet!

Stll deciding-but that's what made me ask this question. When i met with Jordana I asked her about substiuting the pigs in a blanket for the Spanikopita because i just LOVE that too!!
