we were going to use votives, but if it's not a big deal we'd rather save the money!

Re: cocktail hour
You should ask your florists - most that I met with were willing to throw in votives for free.

Re: cocktail hour
Our RH has little candles in bowls they use. Make sure your RH isnt going to set it up.

Re: cocktail hour
I haven't even thought about that, but I don't remember anything on tables at other weddings I've attended in the past. As a guest the last thing I'd expect are more things on the table when I want to eat...coctail hour tables tend to be small and have lots of seats, so the table can get pretty cluttered quickly. If you relaly want something, I'd say go for votives.

Re: cocktail hour
I agree with the above, check to see what your reception hall is doing. I think mine includes a lamp or something small on the tables. There's usually not much room for anything else, so I don't think votives are necessary.

Re: cocktail hour
for the cocktail hour people are entering the RH chatting inline for food so i do not think it is really needed to decorate if you do not want to... save the money here and decorate the main room instead

This is what I was going to say. Make sure your reception hall doesn't have something for the cocktail hour. Mine does as well. If they don't, a fre votives are nice, but not necessary. Bare tables are fine.

Re: cocktail hour
My hall decorates the CH and VH, etc with fresh flowers, candles etc. Check with your hall if they do this for you, bec it will be one less thing you have to worry about

Re: cocktail hour
The tables in the CH room at the NRC has these little candle/lantern type things on them. So we're going to use them and maybe sprinkle some rose petals around them. Otherwise they look good just the way they are as well

Re: cocktail hour
no worries-
i think you should save the money and use it elsewhere. ppl are too busy people watching..eating...and talking to notice.
