DONT MISS IT!!!

You spend so much time preparing for this party, I wouldnt even consider missing an hour! It was a lot of fun and it freed me from having to spend even more time saying hello to people at the reception..so i got to dance, eat and really enjoy myself.

Re: Cocktail Hour

You know I never even thought about it until now. I wnat to enjoy my self and have a few drinks. My sister had to stay straight becasue she had to talk to everyone during the party. Forget that. You put a great idea into my head. Thanks guys.

Re: Cocktail Hour

Definitely attending it. We do NOT want to be stuck chit chatting the entire night at the reception. Most of our guests will be on the dance floor anyway.. Might as well join them!

Hmmmmmmm.... you ladies have me thinking! Does anyone know if I can email this thread to someone outside the boards? I'm thinking my FH should take a look at this!

Re: Cocktail Hour

We are planning on attending our cocktail hour too. I thought it would be wierd if we were there but then at the last wedding I was at the bride & groom were at the cocktail hour and it was nice bc they got to talk to everyone and 'get it out of the way' so to speak a little earlier and really enjoy the entire reception.

I think what we will do is attend the last 20 min or maybe the first 20 min. Hmmm! which do you think is better?

Re: Cocktail Hour

I am taking pictures before the ceremony, and not having a receiving line. We are paying for our wedding and I don't want to miss even a moment of it.

Re: Cocktail Hour

Wow, I guess I'm alone here!

We chose not to attend our cocktail hour. Our maite d' and bridal assistant brought us up tons of food and drinks-even so we were too excited to really eat. We had a chance to take a few pictures alone and then take a deep breath before our 'grand entrance'. Most of our BP spent the hour greeting people and then snuck up to the bridal suite to hang out with us.

We liked the build up to our entrance! Thinking back now, I don't regret our decision.

That said-do whatever makes you happy!

Re: Cocktail Hour

OCT1203, I'm not sure. I would say the first part of cocktail hour, this way people don't see you right before you are introduced at the reception. Give people a chance to forget a little!

Re: Cocktail Hour

I agree with Stef...you only get 5 hours (most of us)...enjoy every second...

I am not a traditionalist at all...guests came to the weddign and saw DH and I together all dressed up before the ceremony...

Re: Cocktail Hour

I want to attend the cocktail hour so we could greet alot of guests there and avoid having to spend the whole night having to track down everyone to say hi to.

we are - we are taking all our pictures before the ceremony

Re: Cocktail Hour

I'm not attending at all, this was FH's decision, but now I'm so happy with that decision.

I want alone time w/my new hubby after all the pics, I want to be able to enjoy being in his company before the big party. CB will bring plenty of food to our suite for us.
The BP can go ahead and have a ball at the coctail hour, but we will wait to make our big entrance.

Re: Cocktail Hour

I'm hoping we'll be able to make it to most of it. FH refuses to see me before the ceremony so a lot of pictures will have to be taken between ceremony and the CH.
We're paying for this shindig and want to be able to enjoy it!! I don't think whether people see you at CH or not affects the entrance.
