I was wondering if you ladies are going to your cocktail hour? I want to go cause I know the food is going to be awesome plus it gives me a chance to say hi to everyone but I still want my grand entrance and feel that it will be taken away if the guests see me in my dress before. Am I just being crazy?

Re: Cocktail Hour?
I'm totally going to my cocktail hour. I'm allowed to get to my venue about an hour or a little more before our cocktail hour, so I'm hoping to have all our pics done by then. I didn't get a mashed potato bar for me not to eat any!

Re: Cocktail Hour?
I'm going to my cocktail hour too. I'm anticipating about two hundred people, so my DJ suggested I do the math. 1 minute per guest = 200 minutes That 3 hours and 20 minutes! Almost the entire time of the reception. Factor in dinner, parent dances, and cake cutting - and we'll have no time to relax! He suggested using the cocktail hour start greeting guests this way you have some time to party.
Also, most of your guests will have seen you in your gown at the ceremony... right? I think it's more that you're being announced as a married couple for the first time.

Re: Cocktail Hour?
I'm going to half of my cocktail hour. I don't want to see my FH before the ceremony, so there goes pics before everything gets started! We decided to extend cocktail hr from an hour to an hour and a half. That way, I can take my pics for the first 45 min to an hour and still have a half hour to enjoy cocktail hour.

Re: Cocktail Hour?
I'm hoping to attend at least half my Cocktail hour.
My Ceremony and reception are both at the RH, so actually this Sunday I'm heading to check out gardens (Old Westbury, Clark Botanical) to decide where to take photos.
Goal is to take first look, individual bride-groom adn bridal party photos ahead of the cermeony...
then afterwards take the quick basic family photos...
I'm hoping that won't take more than a half hour...
or am I nutz?

FH and I have large Italian families so we are going to get pictures done before CH. Our church ceremony is at 2 (or 3, we still haven't decided yet) and our CH is at 7 and we also extended it to 1.5 hours. So many people tell me that the whole day goes by so quickly. My parents always tell me they didn't eat a thing at their wedding. I just want the day to go smoothly and I want to take it all in and enjoy every moment. I don't want to miss the party cause I have to say hi to everyone. Like Lisa said, your grand entrance is that you are being annonced and introduced as Mr. and Mrs. for the first time (since the ceremony) It's your day, no matter what, who cares when people see you, it's all about you!

Re: Cocktail Hour?
I'm going if it's the last thing I do. I'm starting my pictures early so I can go to cocktail hour. Luckily, just in case my RH put me and FH in a room for a little while after the ceremony. Food from the cocktail hour is in there.
