Are any of you planning on trying to make it to your cocktail hour? Our wedding is only 4 hours (including cocktail hour) and I really want to go! I told my FMIL and FH that I was going and they started ganging up on me that I shouldn't go or be seen until they announce us at the reception. I had enough of everyones opinion and I basically told them I am going to MY cocktail hour!!!! I just feel like after all this money being spent, and stress. I want to ENJOY my wedding! LOL, is that bad????

Nope def not bad. FH and I are going to the cocktail hour. We are paying for it so we want to enjoy it...& it's the time people can take pictures with you and congratulate without interrupting the flow of the reception.

we were GOING to attend cocktail hour... but when i spoke with my venue and they said that they will already have a set-up of every food for us in the bridal suite and will bring us whatever we want, i thought about that option a little more- we will be done with pics like 30 mins before cocktail hour starts, and I know by then i will be exhausted and will just want to EAT!.. if i go to cocktail hour i will be bombarded by people who want to talk and i will probably miss the entire hour and won't get to eat
sooo i plan to eat in the bridal suite with my FH for the first 30 mins, and then go down and socialize after

We are absolutely going. We want to enjoy the cocktail hour amd have the opportunity to get our 'hellos' done. Then once we get into the reception its party time!

No it's not bad! It's your special day & you and fh should do what makes you happy! Most of the weddings I've been to I've seen the bride and groom in the cocktail hr.

We will be at ours! It was the only thing FH felt strongly about. We'll be at about half of our cocktail hour. We aren't seeing each other prior to our ceremony and we're getting married at our RH so we will have to take pictures too.

We planned on attending ours, but my ILs were late & didn't show up for pictures until cocktail hour had already started. But our attendant was great & brought food to the suite for us so we got to try most of it.

Our cocktail hour is 7-8 and reception is 8-1 and we will be all most if not all of the cocktail hour!

Thanks everyone! I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going nuts because I have only been to a few weddings, but I do remember seeing the bride and groom at cocktail hour. haha...I AM GOING!!!!

We're going to our cocktail hour because that's what I'm the most excited about in terms of our venue and I'm NOT gonna miss it! Our ceremony is at the venue so we're going to do a reveal before hand so we can get most/all of our pictures done then.

I am without a doubt attending the cocktail hour! That's when the best food is out! Our place opens the cocktail hour once the ceremony is finished, so we should have about an hour and a half for cocktails, which gives time for pictures after the ceremony and then eating/mingling.
