Do you plan to make an apperance at your cocktail hour or not? My family says it's not usual for the bride and groom to go. So let me get this straight...I miss hospitality hour, I miss cocktail hour and I have to be locked up in the bridal suite for 2 hours so the guests dont see me? Is it really that important to keep hiding? I feel like I am missing half of the party I paid for! Maybe I'm thinking the wrong way...I dunno. What do you ladies all think?

I am definitely making appearance during CH!!! I don't wanna miss all the food, plus I'll get most of my hello's out of the way so FH and I can have fun and just party the rest of the night!! I say if you are going to be doing a 'First Look' then most of the pics will be out of the way and you can go to CH and have fun!

I think that the brides and grooms usually miss their cocktail hour - if they are NOT doing pictures before hand - just for this reason, we've decided to do pictures before the ceremony and to enjoy our entire party.

We went to CH. At this point, we really didn't want to talk to anyone though. I ran in there, got myself a plate of food and a seat and stuffed my face.
ETA: We did leave about 15-20 minutes early to see the reception room and take some photos.

We are definitely planning to make an appearance! FH are taking pictures before the ceremony, just so we can attend our Cocktail hour. We are spending sooo much money on our wedding, we plan to enjoy as much of it as we can.

I remember it used to be that way and when I was younger I thought you weren't supposed to go and everyone waits for you to make this big entrance, lol! Now, when I talk to people and venues, they expect that you want to go to it! We missed half of my friend's wedding for pictures but we went to the second half of CH and stuffed our faces!

We took about 20 minutes to finish our pictures, then went into cocktail hour. DH spent some time with his friends, I spent some time with my family & bridesmaids. We left like 10 minutes early to get lined up for entrances.

Havent decided yet, I am doing pictures before hand so I think I can attend cocktail hour but everyone is in my ear about the couple is usually not at cocktail hour

We will def be at the CH, we are paying all this money for food - we want to make sure we get to have some!
I know most of the guest will try to talk to us, but we will def sit for a few minutes to eat
ETA: I already spoke to the photographer and we will be back in time from pics for the CH.

We are going to the cocktail hour to greet everyone and enjoy some of the food (since we will be eating in the room before the CH starts) so we can party the night away once the reception starts!

FH and I will be attending our CH! We are taking pix before our ceremony. We feel the same as you.. we will be missing out on the party we payed for if we dont go. Plus I dont plan to do a receiving line. I feel we can greet guests at the CH.

I am ABSOLUTELY going to my cocktail hour! I'll be damned if I am missing ANY part of the evening that I shelled out the money for! We are taking all our pics before the ceremony, so we'll have the time. During the cocktail hour, I plan to go around and try to mingle with as many people as possible so that during the actual reception, I can be on the dance floor!
