Cocktail Hour Entertainment

I've been tossing around ideas about what to book for the cocktail hour entertainment and wondering what everyone else is doing...

I am having a large cocktail hour with 2 rooms and an outdoor area so i am having a acoustic guitar player, a piano player who sings (like billy joel, etc), and i believe some jazz musician- all in different areas- so depending on what room you will be in you will hear some different tunes.

i am a young bride and so are most of my friends so i didnt want anything too uptight which i feel a string quartet might give off--- just my opinion.

I wanted a steel drum player for the outside area but my band was charging me too much.

HTH!

If we can swing it, we're going to do a mandolin/guitar duo

I don't think you really need music, everyone in my is going to be talking and catching up. No one is going to really remember if there was or wasn't. save the money and use it elsewhere!

I agree! We are just having the DJ play music. Nothing fancy. I want people to catch up, have some really good food, taste some wine, and enjoy the scenery. Our CH is on a deck so I want them to pay attention to their surroundings and eachother, not a musician.

I agree! The last wedding i went to; i can't even tell you what kind of music they had at the CH.
Did TWOTY CH even have music? That was just a few days ago & i can't even remember!

We are having a pianist, but we only got the idea when we saw the piano in the cocktail hour area.
