ahh i'm confused now! i see that many brides on here are starting their cocktail at 6!! we have our cocktail at crest hollow from 7 to 8, and now i don't know if maybe that is too late and i should change it for 6 to 7? help!! do you guys think having the cocktail from 7 to 8 is fine and just leave it the way it is that too late? our reception is until 1 AM! with the 1 hour Viennesse included! so basically from 8-1 AM is party time and 7-8 is cocktail hour!!
please let me know your ideas. i need major advice on this!! :) thanks!!

I don't think it is too late... I am having the VH as well and my cocktail hour starts at 6:30... I was going to do 7 but we figured if we did the cocktail hour any later than 6:30 it would cause those coming from the city to get caught in rush hour traffic!

My CH started at 7:30pm. Its the norm to do it between 7-8pm. EVERY wedding ive been to the CH started at that time. The only time CH was at 5-6 starting time is when the reception ended earlier so thats why. Just go with the time you had and dont worry

Well, I think it depends on if it is outdoors or indoors and the time of year. by 7pm in November, it is dark out.
Mine is 6-7 in October, outdoors, but they have heat lamps around the tables.
7 is not too late, esp if you are not getting married at the reception hall.

If it is, then add it to my list of problems. It's not getting changed!!
Seriously, though, don't worry about it. If someone gripes about being at a wonderful party and being fed all that great food and being treated to a night of dancing and music, then who cares if they had a problem with a 7:00 CH?? They are tools, and should be made to wait out in the parking lot with their 'late' food in a bag.

girl..u have NOTHING to worry about - don't drive urself crazy! Our CH started at 8:30! which means yes, it went untill 2:30am! 95% of our guests stayed untill the very end...and I couldn't believe it, but a majority of them went to an afterparty at the hotel we had set up for our guests! I really don't think an hour is going to make a huge difference..especially if your wedding is not on a sunday. like i said, don't go crazy..if people are having a good time, that 1 silly hour will not make a difference

Yea, I wouldnt worry either. My CH starts at 8:30 and I'm happy about that b/c I don't like leaving parties early and then having to find someplace else to go party after the wedding. I thought it was a little late b/c I dont want people to leave so early- but it's the only time I was able to get- so we are going to work with it.... I'm not going to worry :)

7:00 is fine. I worked at alot of catering halls and it is very common to start the CH that late. Mine actually starts at 7:00 also. Don't worry, your fine.
