Re: Cocktail hour music
I wanted to have either strolling violinists or someone to play the paino ( really a keyboard that sounds like a piano) and he sings... he does awsome frank sinatra and stuff... but its so much money for just an hour.. and everyone told me there will be so much talking that no one will be able to appreciate it

Re: Cocktail hour music
we're having the guitarist from the band play for the cocktail hour...he does a lot of beatles stuff and it's definitely background music which is what we wanted!

Re: Cocktail hour music
we were first thinking of doing 80's music to keep everyone going for the CH..but then we can't hear it!!!! So we may do upbeat jazz

Re: Cocktail hour music
I was going to do live music...like a jazz trio or something...but I decided to let the DJ just play something. As someone said before...there will be talking and people wanting to catch up...I'm not sure it will be appreciated...and it saved me some $$$ to let the DJ do it.

Re: Cocktail hour music
I am having Jim Lowe (pianist) play all instrumental. I wanted a nice contrast of the CH to the Reception.

Re: Cocktail hour music
I have a DJ
Im going to ask him to play happy 'bring backs memories' songs. Stuff I wouldnt normally dance to.
For the sit down and eat I'd like Jazzy stuff. Like Sting's Moon over Bourbon Street.. that sorta stuff.
That's the game plan

Re: Cocktail hour music
I think a few people on the boards got a steel drum ensemble to play during cocktail hour... sorry I can't remember exactly who do did that. Anyway, steel drums are definitely upbeat!
