Re: Cocktail hour music
I'm using an awesome jazz trio, National Boulevard, for my cocktail hour and ceremony and they were only $100 more than if my DJ played it ($300!!!!). I'm gonna ask them to do a mix of jazz and reggae, cause they do reggae and my family is Jamaican.

Re: Cocktail hour music
We did steel drum music. I was kind of scared before the wedding but when i walked into the cocktail hour it was awesome. My wedding was also in the summer and i had added a frozen drink bar which was a huge hit.

Re: Cocktail hour music
I did not book a DJ yet so I dunno if I will have a DJ at thet time or take the piped in music ( in the direction of MrHostility!) But the mu-zack that they pipe in you cannot really hear to good. So I was thinking get a cheap-o mp3 cd boom box and make my own CD, the hall said the matrie'd could take care of pressing play and stop...and just stick it under one of the tables so you can't see it. I thought that was a really inexpensive alternitave and cool b/c I can play whatever I want. I was gonna go with classical music and/or music from LOTR soundtracks.

Re: Cocktail hour music
We are having a piano and guitarist. We asked that they play mostly jazz standards and hot house music (jazz from the 20s & 30s).

We are going to make a CD that my hall said they could play. Not sure what music yet though.
