Is it worth spending the extra $ to get a singer or musicians to perform for the cocktail hour? I've thrown around the idea of either a string trio/quartet, or a Sinatra-style singer, but I'm not sure if it's worth the extra money. I'm not sure if people will even notice or care, let me know what you think.

Re: cocktail hour music
I wanted a band but FH wants a DJ...so I compromised by hiring live music for my CH. I am having a singer and a guitar player. Its a little expensive for 1 hour..but worth it to me hTH

I had a jazz band for the CH and a DJ for the reception. I like the idea of live music but I was too nervous to have for the whole reception. I definitely think it was worth the money. It added such a nice touch. If you can - go for it.

if it's something that really means a lot to you, go for it.
just remember, many brides don't participate in their ch, so it might be something that you won't even get to see.

Re: cocktail hour music
We had a DJ at the cocktail hour that played sinatra type music it was a very nice back drop..ppl at the CH are meeting at greeting and not really paying attention to the music..so I personally don't think it's worth it

Re: cocktail hour music
Were having a band for our reception and part of the contract is that we get a keeyboard or guitarist or saxphone for our cocktail. We chose the keyboard. But then I had won a free keyboard player from a contest at wm so they added the saxaphone player in!!

IMO its worth it. The CH is a party in of itself and I know that our guests noticed and loved the live music we had during the CH.

I want to get a string trio or quartet for the cocktail hour. I think it sets the mood.
