Cocktail Hour music

We are finally getting our music together. The reception is about done and I have ideas for ceremony music, but no idea what to have for cocktail hour music. Did anyone have music during your cocktail hour (or will you be having music during cocktail hour)? What kind of music? About how much did you spend for cocktail hour music? I'm almost tempted to have a jazz CD play during the cocktail hour.

Our DJ is supplying the music-just soft music, Frank Sinatra, Billy Joel, etc...

I am having a pianist for my ceremony & cocktail hour. Total cost is $200. The pianist is Jim Lowe. Phone # 631-928-9830. He came highly recommended by another bride on here.

Per Jenny11.9' s recommendation, I booked pianist Jim Lowe too. He is very reasonbaly priced and I really liked his demo tape. He is doing my ceremony and cocktail hour. His #is 631-928-9830. Good Luck.

He charges $125 for ceremony and $75 for cocktail hour. $200 total for 2 hours

Our band for the reception has a violin player who'll play at the coctail hr. It all came as one package for us.

If you are using a DJ, they can have 2 sets of speakers, one which they use for the cocktAIL HOUR.

I STILL don't know what we're doing. What we REALLY want are the STeel band drummers, but we dont know if we could spare the extra $$$ yet, they run about $500. UGH

We have a trio that is also playin the ceremony and I think they will be playing a lot of classical music.

We booked a steel drum player with our DJ - Get In Tune, we saw her at a showcase and she was amazing, so we booked her!

I have a 12 piece band for the reception. Some of the musicians in the band will perform at the ceremony (I think piano & flute) and then i'll have a jazz trio (piano, bass & drums) for the cocktail hour. I don't really know how much this costs b/c my parents are musicians and they did the whole thing- but I wouldn't be surprised if this was about $8k. However- I do know that my friend used a band that was great (Vertigo) and then she hired an extra piano player, drummer & bassist- they served as the music during the cocktail hour and then they filled in when the main band took a break during the reception. I think the band costs like 5k and the extra 3 pieces was 1k.
