Cocktail Hour Music

We are not having a band for the cocktail hour, so I wanted to know how was the DJ/Music set up for cocktail hour?

One DJ told me that they just play from a CD player with speakers? Is that right??

The most recent wedding I went to that had the DJ at cocktail hour was basically just the DJ playing a chilled out playlist from itunes. Honestly, I didn't even notice what songs were playing.

Have you considered hiring a solo piano/keyboard player to play cocktail music in the background? We had one musician and it really filled the background very nicely. I think this was something in the 100-150 dollar range.

Or, I'd imagine you and your FH can just put an ipod mix together....I'm assuming most RHs are wired with speakers and it sounds like yours definitely is.

Check to see if your RH can play background music for you so that you don't have to spend any more money.

My DJ, which was FM Entertainment set up and had music playing from somewhere. IDK where but you heard it all over the place (It was a 1 place venue so that was a good thing).

BTW - FM Entertainment was GREAT!!!

Personally I just wanted the DJ to take care of that... ONE less expense!!!

I believe that they just set speakers up in the CH room (or if outside if that's where it is) and play a CD of songs.

We actually hired a steel drummer for our CH through our DJ and he will be playing the steel drums along with a backing track.

We are having a pianist that the RH is getting for us. I never thought of it but since the piano and the little nook for her to play in is there already, why not!

Isn't Westbury Manor awesome! Lol. They do piped in music. Honestly, I just went to a wedding that had a live band for CH and it was kind of intrusive. I only paid attention because they were so loud I couldn't carry on a conversation.
