My opinion, music at the cocktail hr should be kind of in the background. Maybe a harpist or a piano? Perhaps someone at the place you're having your reception has an idea.

Does Lands End have a piano? I had a piano player at Flowerfield. The piano player was David Tabachnik and was on the recommended vendor list given by Flowerfield. I have his telephone number at home if you want. FM me if you need any further info.

I was just at a wedding this weekend that had a steel drum band. It was excellent!! The wedding was at the Cresent Club in Bayville so it worked. I know what you mean about having them in your October wedding, but if you want it, do it! If they're good, the guests will appreciate it rather than think it's out of place.

IMO cocktail hours should have swanky cocktail music- jazz, standards, etc... something to get people into that swank party mood.. I had a jazz trio...

I love the lands end and i think a steel drum would be perfect there since it is on the water. Do you think it will be warm enough to be outside? We are getting married in October also at the Milleridge and I got a piano a saxaphone. Go with what ever you want! Its your day! Good luck!

My DJ is Get In Tune. For my cocktail hour I am having the steel drums. However I did not want a whole band so they have someone that comes and plays the steel drum along with island background music. My cocktail hour is inside and I didn't want it to be overbearing.

I love the idea of a steel drum band (they are expensive also). I think Tommy Tunes know a few Steel Drum Bands.

We are using a pianist and vocalist ( George Nichols, vendor on this site). Sounds great, reasonably priced too.
