Cocktail hour music- Which would you select and why?

Which would you select:

1)Steel drums
2)Mariachi band
3.)Accordian player (I'm Italian, so this will probably be a big hit with the older generation).

I personally like the steel drums, but the mariachi band is a real close second.
I like the accordian player too because it's fun and will probably be A LOT cheaper.
The only thing I don't like about the Steel drums is that they will only be stationed in one spot as opposed to a mariachi band or accordian player.

well i would choose steel drum but i feel like they work best at an outside summer wedding, not so much a fall wedding. they just sound caribbean-y to me.

to be honest i would skip all 3 and just have background music. its a nice touch and all but people are mingling and talking and dont realize music is even playing

i voted for accordian... i think the other 2 are kind of random, jmo. i l ike steel drums but more for a summer wedding if anything, i think the accordian at least relates to your heritage

See my FI thought that a steel band is too caribbean and wouldn't fit. But, I'm so backwards, that it doesnt faze me much. Then I was thinking, maybe I could do a tropical theme worse case scenario.

I found gigmasters last night and a mariachi band, depending on how many people could run as low as 125. I was shocked. I know CH music isn't do or die, but I really want something that will make it different from all the other weddings I have gone to.

Joanna, I see you're getting married at Russo's, where do you think they would stick the music for CH. I'm going to call my BM and find out next week.

We got a dvd from a company- I think afterhours and they had a few selection on it. The steel drummers were so awesome. We had already decided on strings though. I think the steel drums would be so cool.
