Cocktail hour music- Which would you select and why?

Which would you select:

1)Steel drums
2)Mariachi band
3.)Accordian player (I'm Italian, so this will probably be a big hit with the older generation).

I personally like the steel drums, but the mariachi band is a real close second.
I like the accordian player too because it's fun and will probably be A LOT cheaper.
The only thing I don't like about the Steel drums is that they will only be stationed in one spot as opposed to a mariachi band or accordian player.

That was my biggest worry with a mariachi band- that it would be too loud. (especially for those 'older' folks) And, that they may bump into my guests if they are too mobile...lol...I'm so weird. I imagine the weirdest things.

that too... people use the ch to mingle... the last thing you want is a mariachi band all up in your convo! lol

If you are having an outdoors cocktail hour I love the idea of a steel drum band!

Definitely not outdoors. It'll be indoors, but it overlooks a bay.

Of those 3 options, i picked the drums.

I'm not big on mariachi or accordians.

We did bagpipes (2 bagpipes and 1 drummer)!! it was AWESOME!! You heard it through the whole place!!! But since they hung by the main entrance they weren't so loud that you couldn't have a conversation.

My mom wanted to hire these 2 guys who come and sing and play guitars ... they play at a lot of restaurants so you know they're good and not loud & obnoxious.

maybe you are interested in something like that?

if not, i'd totally do the steel drum band ... we wanted it at ours but it's not in the budget

I'm West Indian, so I'm going to be biased and say the Steel drums.

Steel Drums for me for CH. There is just something about them that makes me feels all nice and relax while ready to party all at the same time. They remind me of when we go on cruise with FH's family. When we first get on the boat, they have the steel drummer playing along with the reggae band and it's just makes me happy and that's the mood I want to start off the evening.

I'm having a mariachi band!! I'm Mexican so it kinda fits.

My mom is taking care of this though since she's the one who wants it. No one is booked but we're def. having one.

A Mariachi band could be loud. But to make it lower just don't use a full 8 piece band. 4 would be fine and be a lot quieter.

Steel Drums I would choose but I think it also depends on the feel of you CH. But anything on the water, I would love the steel drums, gives you that beautiful tropical feel...

I booked a steel drum band for my CH. It will be outside (weather permitting) and I love that they give such a fun vacation feel.

No mariachi, too loud. Steel drums are awesome, but I think the accordian might be a nice way to have music and incorporate culture.

Look through my E-Pics. I took a pic with an Accordian player in Central park. I only paid him $2 to play while we danced around and took pictures. Maybe you can get one for your cocktail hour for like $20. LOL

Go steel drum!!
