I am interested in a reception hall, but they are saying my cocktail hour would be from 730-9. At first I was excited they were giving me an extra half hour, but now I am doing the math and that means my guests won’t sit down to eat until 9--with salad and pasta they won’t be eating their entree until 10pm!! That's crazy right?
Anyone else dealing with something similar? I want to ask to move it up, but this place has two weddings at a time. I think they do this to allow enough clean up time.

Re: Cocktail Hour/ Reception Time
they will probably make it really really early since most places have one cocktail room and then two dining rooms.. that stinks!!!
i'd ask them if they could push the dinner our earlier than normal so its not 11pm when you eat. then do the dancing later in the evening.

Re: Cocktail Hour/ Reception Time
My ch is 830 to 930, rec starts 930. For a long time I worried about the times but now I am actually ok with it. We know all of our friends wont leave early (wedding ends 230am!) esp since alot of ppl are stayin over night in the hotel n will be waiting for the shuttles. Ppl will know b4 hand what there in for. Those who leave at 1130, 12, 1230 are the same ppl who wouldve left early regardless of whether they ate already or not.

Re: Cocktail Hour/ Reception Time
My cocktail hour is from 7:30-8:30 and I know the space is not shared with any other room. At first it was a worry, but there will sooo much food at the CH that it will be okay, if dinner is not served until about 9 pm. The few halls I looked at, CH for a Sat. night wedding either started at 7:30 or 8:30, and that is probably due to time needed between the day and evening weddings.
