We're getting married at Planting Fields Arboretum at 10:30am, ceremony should be over at 11am, which leaves an hour for pictures until the cocktail hour starts at 12.
We weren't planning on attending the cocktail hour but instead, sneaking into the reception hall (Milleridge Carraige House) and hanging out in the bridal suite.
Problem now is that there's no way to get into the building without passing through the cocktail hour.
Which means we would be greeting everyone and attending the cocktail hour, at least for a few minutes.
But we still wanted to do the 'introductions' portion of the reception.
How silly do you think it would be to show up at the cocktail hour, head inside about 12:30pm for pictures inside, hang out in the bridal suite, and then have the DJ introduce us at the start of the reception?
I feel a little silly about it but I want my nieces and nephews to have a big introduction, I think it would really make them feel special.
What do you think?

We are most likely going to attend the cocktail hour and then be introduced too.

Nothing can take away from your introduction, even if you attend the whole cocktail hour! No worries!

I'm going to the whole cocktail hour and we're still going to be introduced. I think it's fine.

I agree with the others...I've been to plenty of weddings where they still do the intro even after the bride & groom attended cocktail.

I think it is fine too. You can do whatever you want!
All the weddings I have been to, the couples have been introduced at the reception -- even if they attended the cocktail hour.

Re: Cocktail hour/introduction dilemma
Thanks ladies! I was thinking the same thing, that it would be great to save time saying hello to everyone during cocktail hour. Leaves more time for drinking and dancing later!
Ok, I don't feel so silly anymore! That would be good for the kids too, get some food in them so they don't have to wait too long for dinner.

Re: Cocktail hour/introduction dilemma
we attended a reception in march....(we skipped the ceremony, shame on us) and the couple did show up for like half the CH, they weren't introduced so it was still special (as any DJ/MC or Band will be sure it is) when they got introduced at the reception.

I don' t think it is silly, a lot of brides attend their cocktail hour then get introduced.

Same for us. We'll eat something, then go into the bridal suite as they round up guests to go into the reception hall since the CH is outside.

I feel a little weird about it, but I will be at my cocktail hour and then introduced at the reception.

Re: Cocktail hour/introduction dilemma
I don' t know about you guys, but my 'bridal suite' is quite small. We're not going to have enough room for myself and my FH, my parents, his parents, My two sisters & brothers-in-law, and 6 kids. No way!
All the more reason to do these introductions quick!
