'Banging my head against the wall'This is what I am feeling like right now! I am on a mission and yet so simple seems impossible. 'PARTY, PARTY, PARTY' is al I want for the entire 5 hours. No questions of 'chicken or fish, etc' going around. My family is party hardy (and so is his). I am on Long Island and most of his family....Brooklyn; Bronx; Queens. I want a DJ that knows how to 'keep-em stepping' to the beats from the late 70's and 80's (with a little 50 cents for my daughter)
I don't want to turn the purse upside down to catch the coins and lent to pay for such a simple affair.
This gal just wants to have fun and enjoy the party to honor her being a bride .
Any suggestions; references; past experiences......help!!!
Thanks for sharing.

Re: Cocktail Recep only any tips/hints
I don't have any tips, but that's what I've always wanted to do. Somewhere along the way, I got talked out of it because 'people would expect it'. So, I just extended the cocktail hour by a half hour and kept the traditional entree. I still think the cocktail hour is the best part, so why not make it the whole wedding?

'Oh no dont tell me that!' Well this Virgo Gal never gives up. Worst comes to worst, my family caters so I will have them cook and them hire help to serve and maintain.'but I really didnt want that'

it's a bit out east...but check out Majestic Gardens--towards the end of the wedding menus on the site, they have some cocktail reception ideas. Click here
also--the Mediterrean Manor in Patchogue offers a 'champagne' reception and buffet receptions that are mostly cocktail items
